Hex that's awful, I always wonder why people like that have children
only the poor kids that suffer (I mean her not your OH of course) your OH must be so frustrated and poor you seeming like you're the nasty one stopping him.
FFP unfortunately men are usually just like that, if I haddn't been on about the album I wanted all week I'd have got the chocolates DP likes too lol, birthdays are the same inc my 30th which I paid for us a holiday to go on so not as if he could forget but he wanted to travel home on my birthday until I went nuts insisting I was staying with or without him.
I suppose what means the most this year to me, more than that CD I really really wanted lol was that he hasn't gone to the racing he'd booked in for and the effort he's put in having 3 hours sleep then dealing with the boys for most of the day. It's been a nice change, also mean't I could make a bigger effort making my Mam dinner. She came over and thoroughly enjoyed it, it's quite sad in a way as she said it was the fullest she's felt in ages. She doesn't see the point in cooking for one.
GREENBEE they are DUVET COVERS, how many times DON'T IRON BEDDING it's bad! Naughty not green at all. Save our planet by stopping excessive ironing
Soappie, I hate spongers, family or not, we've just been discussing the same sort of problem with my Mam's side of the family. Boils my wee!One day I might be more organised...........

Do you know why that is? and who sorts out what is classed as a church?
and I never knew that.
I have no idea why, I would say that even a little religion in a service is better than none, so I can't say why it's not allowed ( I am biased of course!)
Anywhere where a registrar performs a ceremony, where you don't have to have banns read, like a hotel or country house that has a civil licence, is not allowed to have hymns or religious readings.
Funny old world! Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
Have now caught up with all the thread!
funfairprincess - hugs; hope you are ok. When you feel able, you may be surprised at how effective talking, rather than screaming, can be
Sunnygirl - hugs and prayers for you and DH
hex - hugs;
soappie - hugs for you and BFUR; her children are being unreasonable and behaving like little children and not the adults they supposedly are. If she stands firm, they will (eventually) get the message!
lil_me - glad you had a nice day and DH has helped
My arm is really painful and achy tonight  It was quite painful driving back earlier so not sure if I'll be ok for work tomorrow. Am really fed up with it and am resigned to always having aches and pains - right now my elbow hurts, my fingers are stiff and my arm is tender  What fun!"There's only one way of life and that's your own" - Levellers

Don't know if anyone else has replied to this yet-stillcatching up!!
Basically, if you are made redundant, and you are not required to work your notice period but instead are on "garden leave" then the company is required to pay you ALL of your notice period (3 months, in your case?) irrespective of whether you get another job in that time. HOWEVER, if you are required to work your notice and choose to leave during this time, then they wouldNOT be required to pay the full amount, as it would be you breaking the contract, not them.
If you do go on Garden Leave, then the payment should be made on your last day, not drip drip over usual salary dates. If paid over usualsalary dates, then for all intents and purposes you would still be employed! Receipt of monthly payments may alsohave an impact upon any benefits to which you may be entitled.
Hope this makes sense - pm me if you need further info.....

ZCC - just to clarifiy you are referring to is non contractual PILON (pay in lieu of notice) against a contractual gardening leave clause. Sorry to put my pedantic hat on but this is my bread and butter! Loosely speaking failure to provide work is breach of contract - hence pay in lieu of notice, so a lump sum of all notice due is paid, and tough on the employer if the employee finds another job in the meantime. The second option is contractual pay in lieu of notice - where employees automatically don't have to work their notice but are paid in one lump sum with employment ending immediately, the third option is gardening leave. This must be detailed somewhere in the terms and condition's (or agreed with the unions) 'an express provision authorising the employer to do so' to quote Yew on dimissals, that the company are not obliged to provide work but must contine to pay salary as normal to the end of gardening leave and that you must make yourself available for work if required. This can be paid normally rather than as a lump sum, can be terminated if you find another job. If it prohibits you from working for another company during gardening leave it must expressly say so. This is not provided for in statutory law, so it must be contract specific. Can be challenged if it is unecessarily restrictive, not commonly used for redundancy, more often to protect an employee when key people (eg senior sales people) leave. Sorry - off my hobby horse now. Not being critical of your advice in any way so please don't be offended but I can't just leave it. Can you see why I rarely stray into the employment boards?

Hi
Quick flash in as I have been out most of the day! Hope you are all ok and had a lovely mother's day. Am sure, too, it will have been hard for some of you but I hope your happy memories have been in your mind...
Just wondered how Toots was BUT it has just occurred to me that if I look at post 3 and her light's on***whizzes over to page 1***
No light at the moment - hope you're OK Toots
Football was disastrous this morning with one boy injured and had to be taken to hospital - very badly bruised/possibly broken foot - he was certainly in a lot of pain and it began to swell alarmingly - and no 'cool' bag in the first aid box so I shall look into getting some of those (I am not responsible for first aid BTW but realise we should have cold compresses and I undersatnd that there are chemical ones which can be activated) so they were down to 10 men, no subs due to illness/mothers day!
Then home, bathed and off out for mother's day...

Frodders - are you popping Glucosamine? And do we have any further news on the meet in the South?
No I'm not - will try and get to see GP tomorrow if no better.Flylady Southampton Meet - Saturday 4th April
I have 4 defs and 3 maybes - all welcome, just let me know!
Do people have any preference as to what we do? I was thinking either meet for a pub lunch and then go for a wander (cos the weather WILL be nice  ), or meet up a bit later and go for a wander first and then maybe get drink and a cake late afternoon.
There are several things we could do - wander through the park; go to the Art and Design Market; go shopping (or to IKEA!!); or there are self-guided walks (Titanic trail, Jane Austen trail); or we can just sit and chat in a pub / cafe / park.
Any preferences? I'm happy just to make the decision if it's easier, but wanted to give people a chance to choose.
I'm planning on keeping it to central S'ton, so easy access for the train station."There's only one way of life and that's your own" - Levellers
