Operators will offer to call any customer back if they're concerned about call charges. (I'm one of the operators - so I know for sure!)
So you are only an operator who will have no knowledge of the contract that exists between RMC and their telco provider, and therefore just posting what your employers want you to post and what they want their customers to hear! Just about says it all re 0844 scammers!
Not you only non geo revenue sharing numbers!

Derrick, I would advise you to be very very careful when accusing companies of being "scammers" on a public forum.
0844 are seen to be the cheaper alternative to 0870/0845, RMC are doing nothing wrong.

derrick; we're talking about breakdown cover here. I don't work in the other departments. So you are only an operator who will have no knowledge of the contract that exists between RMC and their telco provider, and therefore just posting what your employers want you to post and what they want their customers to hear!
How do you know what knowledge I have? I wouldn't give out information on here unless it was accurate.
Thanks“Official Company Representative

0844 are not cheaper than 0845 and can be dearer then 0870 depending on your telco.
I have seen the quote, but the 01423 number is no use to anyone 2200-0600Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -

Doesn't matter which department, I said your company is using more than the 0844 non geo revenue sharing numbers!
So this is accurate? ; -RescueMyCar.com wrote: »In fact, I believe some mobile networks allow calls to this number from your inclusive minutes (when on a pay monthly contract).
You can only "give out information" that you are privy to, if your bosses give out wrong or misleading info,(intentionally or not), then that is all you can post!Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -

So now this is people's telcos fault now?
0844 is cheaper for me, well it was until BT went free on 0845/0870. The theory behind the 0844 number was that it is a cheaper alternative, and most 0844 numbers dont directly earn revenue, it goes back to the telco provider0 -

Not sure what you mean about "people's telcos" , but they choose them and choose how to receive the revenue or not!
BTs charges for 0844 depend on the 5.6.7 digits and cost ½,1,2,3,4,5ppm, ALL other telcos charge more, and most companies opt for the higher priced option so as to maximise the revenue share!
0844 numbers are ALL revenue generating/sharing and it depends on the contract as to how the revenue is shared.
Ofcom re changes to 0870 ; -
1.18 The reduction in termination payments and the likely cessation of revenue sharing as a result of our proposals will lead a significant proportion of SPs to move their service to other number ranges such as 0844 and 0871 that continue to support revenue sharing.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
We were advised that 0844 numbers were one of the cheaper non-geos when RMC set the emergency number up. I realise this has changed since (or we were ill advised at the time); hence why I've passed this feedback on to my superiors to investigate having it changed.
I'm sure plenty of other companies are in the same situation. I guess this is why ofcom are trying to tidy up non-geo numbers... it's confusing at the moment, for all involved. (but especially customers)
This seems to be more a conversation about call charges than breakdown cover. I'm sure that there are plenty of other posts covering this kind of chat.
I feel I've said all I can from RMC's point of view. I'd just like to thank you all again for the feedback. We will be acting on it further, in addition to the 'quick-fix' change made by adding the geo number to our website today. (whilst this number can only be used between 6am-10pm weekdays... this covers the majority of our calls)“Official Company Representative

I appreciate the changes you have managed to sort out so far.
Derrick Rome was not built in a day, at least RMC have listened to the people and started to publish the geographical number. They may in the future make the changes you recommend but we cannot expect them to change something like that instantly.
Give the RMC lady a break, if we constantly have a go at her she will not bother replying or helping other MSE members which would not be beneficial to the MSE community.0 -
I for one am happy with the response from RMC on this thread and will be signing up with them.
If I do indeed call them out I will revisit and give an opinion!0
