  • I've tried so many times to give up. Both the mints and the gum tasted so bad that I needed a ciggie to take the taste away!

The patches almost worked, but personal situation didn't.

Well I'm going to try again. Think the best way is not to beat youself up over the fact that you have failed - just pick yourself up and try again.

I've bought my patches. Have a stressful week ahead at work so I'm aiming for next weekend.

If I can't manage to do it alone this time, I'm off to he doctors for monitory - some local Chemists also offer this service. You receive the patches by prescription and your nicotine intake is monitored on a weekly basis to check you've not been cheating. A colleague of mine gave up using this method after 27 years of smoking up to 30 a day.

    Good luck with giving up!
  • Hi

After a few attempts , I am now also going to try to stop tomorrow i.e Sunday

,although I only smole 7-8 a day roll-ups, the sight ,taste, just digust me, I even went to a Allen Carr session in london for a day, paid by my old company, but could not handle the intensity,
Probaly because it was the summer last year , hot day, flaked out on the chair with thirteen other people,
it seemed very alcholic`s annoymousish, although never been to a AA meeting!
walked after an hour, especially with all the fags piled up in a corner, one massive heap!,and they say help yourself!,.
I admire anyone who packs in and I do say good luck, now I`m going to roll one , and go cold turkey from midnight tonight

  • Good on you MTH we could start a little gang of quitters to help eachother I know its a bit of a debtfree hijack but I feel it is relevant as they're so expensive and a major budget and savings problem. I stopped buying 20 and started buying 14 (yep they do em now) for £3.70 but I'm still going through a pack a day (last few days excluded).
MTH try and think of a treat for yourself too, I'm convinced its the best way to get through the first few days...

and I agree it is relevant, because it`s a debt on your life as well as your money.....

I think we need to ,I need to , last friday ended up in A&E with chest pains, diagnosed with a ulcer through my lifestyle,

this is why I am stopping, so good luck to everyone, wall climbing is out, iritability is out, so it looks like I will be bald by tomorrow night lol!
  • Am i the first one back today. I hope that doesn't mean everyone else hasn't come on cos they been smoking.

So day 1. Nott too bad really. I was out dancing last night quite late. When i got up i automaticaly lit up, but i think i must have smoked too much last light and in smoky atmosphere, god it hurt and I had to put it out. Thought to myself this is good. I was also really tired so went back to bed this afternoon so obviously didn't miss them then. The craving is just starting to creep upon me now tho. Think I'll go and have a bath. That whyquit.com that someone posted, has some really good articles on it. Certainly makes you think.
