I got the salmon which would have been nie but there was far too muc ginger, it was hideously overpowering- especially if you didn't scrape the pieces off which were chewy and so strong they burnt my mouth (and I like my food quite spicy)
I also had the parsnips (on a different day, not with the salmon!) and they were awful too!
cooked them according to instructions and they were a soggy, vinegary mess.
I too will be writing to complain.0 -
I got.........
Ready to Roast Lamb
Beef Roasting Joint
House Salad TWICE
Belgium Chocolate Cheesecake
2 x Apple Crumble
2 x Elderflower Presse TWICE
:j :j :j :j :j
Was a toss up between the ready to roast beef & the Beef Roasting Joint, but the Beef Roasting Joint was bigger, a 1 kg, compared to 800gms for the ready to roast beef, but maybe I should have got the ready to roast beef, if its £12 for only 800gms, maybe its much nicer beef than the 1kg ready to roast beef which was only valued at £8
The lamb was nice, but no way would I pay £12.99 for it. It said it would feed 5-6, I would say maximum 3.
The beef was fantastic, we usually get Sainsburys taste the difference & the price is similar, I am NEVER buying Sainsburys or any other again.
It shrunk very little & cut so well, no crumbling or anything. It was valued at £8-£9 & would have feed 4-5 well!
Thats why its worth shops doing these specials, they now have a roast beef customer for life:D0 -
we had the turkey joint
new pots with butter
profiteroles ( no cheesecake)
white wine
the meat was the nicest i have tasted,lovely0 -
Previous experience (of 2 dine for £10)
Have a drop of wine - if ok drink it
If not to your taste, add some to the salmon (meat etc) to wash the ginger (or other flavouring) off and cook meal in more wine
Result:
Either the ginger doesn't overpower the meal
Or you just don't care

We too had the roast beef and it was fantastic.
I wouldn't normally buy this as it's too expensive for 3 of us, but it was the best roast beef I have ever cooked. I normally buy mine from a local butcher.
I would consider buying it for a special ocassion though0 -
Well my meal went down very well....
I bought 2 lots, chicken, beef, 1 roasty pots and 1 parsnips. I apple pie and 1 cheesecake (SO SO SO RICH!) 1 cava and 1 lot of elderflower, that was awful! 2 2 2 sweet for us.
The chicken I got was an £11, so a bargain and there is so much left. I put the beef in the freezer but ate everything else! Well 5 of us did.!
I sent to Mums the last of the cheesecake as they liked that, and we (3 of us) have half the apple pie to share tonight.
We loved it!Panda xx
