Thanks Nats,
The whole situ is a mess which is a shame, I just dont want to fall out with the school. And i feel bad that DS doesnt behave and sometimes get rewarded for 'normal' behavour, whilst other 'normal' everyday kids just get ignored or no praise at all. And the fact he interupts their learning too, not just his own.
Oh i wish i knew the answers0 -
LOL
I am a huge MUG!!!
I ended up taking DS to A&E last night, he was complaining of really bad tummy pains, screaming the house down and working himself up so much he was sick, i couldnt get through to emergency docs and NHS Direct were taking forever to call back.
So i took him down there, after a 45 min wait to see a receptionist DS had recovered!!! Im still not sure if he was lying or not, childminder mentioned that he was looking really pale yesterday afternoon and said then he was feeling sick.
DS has been read the riot act about lying, ect, boy who cried wolf, i dont know, i think it was made up as he knew he was in trouble at school, plus more SATS today!
So budget has taken a battering and im shattered.
£2.60 Train today
£8 cab last night
So only £64 left
Well was £63.55 but had 5p)
But at least i do have money left. Its my dads turn to get some bits for lunch today so i dont need money for that.
Hope everyone else is ok!0 -

Hi A_B,
If you have an Orange mobile, you can get 2 for 1 cinema tickes on Wednesdays. I think they still do this!
Good luck with your challenges!

No orange mobile, did find out that the local cinema does sat morn viewings at 10.30 am for £2.50 per child, free adult, so when DS behavour improves again (Hoping) we can go to the cinema that way, ok, they are not the latest releases but waiting a few months wont kill either of us!0

......So he went to assembly and watched others getting there rewards and didnt get one.
He was do disspointed which i understand in a way. So after assembly he went back to class, got upset and started causing problems to get attention, good or bad attention doesnt matter to Joe, as long as it is attention.
To be honest after the teacher told me that she shouldnt have to reward 'normal' behavour from him (this is a child with the behavour outreach team envoled ) Well i agree that his behavour was not correct after the assembly, he should have just accepted it
and he has detention on Monday for this.:o
Hi A_B,:hello:
The teacher needs a reality check. He/she obviously has one list of behaviours worthy of rewards and is trying to measure all the children's performances against the one list. This is ridiculous. All kids are different! This will result in the same children getting the rewards all the time and the children who struggle will never receive rewards, become disillusioned and disinterested, and not even strive for one because they know they are out of reach!
Each child should be measured against what is a good behaviour for them. If rewards are dished out for good behaviour, then they should be tailored to the child. From what you have said, Joe finds it more difficult to behave in a classroom environment than, say, another child, so if he does manage to behave for a full day, then this is an achievement for Joe and should be rewarded with a merit. As time goes on, this can be extended to a reward being issued for good behaviour over 2 days, then 3, then 4, then the whole week. Gradually, Joe will be behaving for longer periods of time.
When I was doing my teacher training, I had a bottom set class of Year 9 kids who were appallingly misbehaved. Throwing furniture and swearing at each other. I had to try and teach them French!!!! Can you imagine it? :wall: :wall: :wall: A constant battle of wills. They were seriously challenged kids, both personally and because of family difficulties. I used to keep their atention by giving out millions of merit marks for the slightest thing - just sitting up at the desk and not speaking earned hundreds of rewards!!! This was good behaviour for *them* and so was rewarded. It worked.
If the school is not rewarding Joe, perhaps you could set up your own reward scheme for him. My sister has a big chart on my nephew's bedroom wall and whenever he is good, he gets a gold star. When he has 10 gold stars, he gets a treat. :T My sister makes it into a game for him and he thrives on it. Other members of the family are encouraged to give him stars too, when he is good for them. Funnily enough, he is called Joe too!!! If he is naughty, he does not get a star and he is told why he hasn't got one. This concentrates on his good behaviour rather than his bad behaviour. Admittedly, he is only 3 but the system still works.:D
I hope that doesn't come across as preaching - it wasn't intended as such. I just wanted to try and cheer you up by letting you know of some experiences I have had, that mirror your own. I admire your guts and determination in bringing up your son on your own - I'm sure it's not easy, but you sound like a really kind and loving person and in the end, this is what kids need. :A

Ange,
You're sooooo organised. If you address you debt, as you have illustrated your life here. It shouldn't take you too long.
All the best of luck. I'll be watching your development.

If you're at a loose end and fancy a laugh at some bonkers folk, you'd be welcome to pop in for a cuppa on my diary...Welcome to Planet Strumpet!
We are mad, but escapism is what's needed sometimes. Like you, I am trying to get my Overdraft paid off (rather unsuccessfully so far).
Perhaps we can share tips!
Looking forward to seeing you!

Well DS behaved today at school
not sure why but im not going to knock it.
The teacher didnt want to talk today so got the SENCO instead. Filled her in on DS antics last night at A&E. She also said mentioned my daily calls to school :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
I have been calling daily for the last four weeks as the teacher will not tell the childminder if DS has had a good day or not, all i want is a thumbs up or down! As i have told the school i cannot tell DS off on a Friday for something that happened on a Monday, she agreed with me and has promised to try and sort it out.
So it only took 20 calls for them to mention it. At least i have got some sort of result and have said i will not hassell the teacher everyday, only Fridays instead - BUT i must be kept up to date daily via the childminder, other wise i will be back on the phone! Even the receptionist knows what time of day i will call!
At least our chat last night seemed to of worked today, hopefully it can continue, well heres hoping anyway!
I do not want to be a parent that the school hates but then again i do not want to be a parent with a little git of a son either.
Ohh, and i have got a date kinda for a meeting with the head, his class teacher, his SENCO and of course me, scheduled for W/B 20/04/09. Not to bad considering it was ment to be before christmas.0
