TurnaroundSue wrote: »Hi Ange - I notice that you have nothing down for christmas/birthday/haircuts etc. Look at www.makesenseofcards.co.uk where you will find a complete SOA - complete that as it will help you to make sure you have left nothing out of your monthly income/expenditure.
As others have suggested, start a spending diary, coz my guess is that you are spending more than the £100 pm for taking your ds out at weekends.
I would also go to www.whatsthecost.co.uk which will ensure that you are paying off the correct debts in the correct order. My guess is that your Vanquish debt has the highest apr? This will also give you a debt free date (DFD) which will help you focus and give you something to aim for.
Good luck with your journey and well done for posting!
Thanks for posting,
Debts in order of highest APR are
Vanquis - to think i only tried to get it for the £20 cashback on quidco
Cap One
HSBC
Great Universal
Next and argos have been frozen.
And it is very possible that im spending more than £100 a month on treats for DS and I, recently i manged to spend over £60 in Feb on just one day, and thinking back to last week we went to kidspace at another £20, these are just the things that stick in my head, oh and wimpy on Friday as DS was good at school for the week.
Ive just realised im spending a bloody fortune on days out for DS and I :eek:0 -
Thanks everyone for the replies.
Today was good, got quite a bit done before DS tutor came round and he had a good session.
We then went to the local park with my dad, his girlfriend and the dog, had a really good time and then made the mistake of inviting them round for dinner! It was good, just had to strech the chicken as it wasnt very big, havent now got any leftovers for later in the week, or any left for a pie. But it was worth it as it was really a MSE afternoon and i got to spend time with my dad as did DS. Plus my dad's GF makes the best ever yorkies! So that helped bulk it out a bit.
I need to look at my budgets again, as i didnt factor in extra childcare costs or haircuts / birthdays. I dont often get my hair cut, but DS does has his done every two months or so at £10 a ago, also i need to think about xmas too. And maybe a camping trip, ive already got the tent and bits, just need to try it all out.
Anyway best get to bed, early start tomorrow0 -
Morning,
Early start, been at work since 7.45. DS was up at midnight being sick, seems ok this morning so ive sent him to school, he says he feels well enough, ive told him the school only have to phone though and either i or the childminder will get him.
Only spend £2.60 so far on train fares.
Have finanally had a call from behavour outreach team, I have a meeting with them on Wednesday afternoon, i was asked if i wanted it to be a home or school, makes sense for it to be at school as at least then I get to pick DS up too :j
Thinking about it, im not to sure if they want DS there or not, i should of asked, im such a lemon sometimes.
Anyways, best get back to work.
Thanks again everyone for advice given :beer:0 -
morning!
re. the treats out. sometimes you can still have the treat/food, but have less of it. eg. just have a burger each or share some chips, have a kids meal for yourself too.
me and OH share s/wiches and cake out eg. half a sarnie each and half a cake etc - you can eat more at home later or bring some snacks with you.
i like my treats too, i just resent paying for them.:rolleyes:0 -

Im going to see how cheap i can have a nice day out for in April using my clubcard vouchers (hoping they will be here by then).
Thanks for the tips, your right, they is no need sometimes for both of us to have one of everything each, DS likes to share and im the gready one thinking i MUST have that cake, but then dont eat most of it and end up giving it to DS.
Also i make a resonable packed lunch too so am going to did out my rucksack and start using it again when we go out.
Leave the eating out for more of a big treat, eg panto at xmas0 -
Hi Angie!! Found your shiney new diary!!!
Just an idea - can you get any 2 for 1 deals on attractions in London by getting a rail ticket? I know that even if you get there by another method, you can pick up the cheapest rail ticket for about £2.something and then you can visit 2 attractions for the price of one!! It was in one of the weekly emails at some point!
And packed lunches on a day out are FAB!!! (Although I like to think of them as picnic!!) Why do sandwiches taste sooo much better when you eat them outside in the sunshine?
Well I must do some work now - its been a manic morning!! Haven't even written on my diary yet!!!!
Wishing you well in your quest and your new diary.... Nats xstart = Wed 19th Nov 2008 £21,225
end = Mon 28th Sept 2015 DEBT FREE!
I love a good plan - it may not work.... but I love a good plan!0 -
Thanks Nats,
Money situ is quite bad at the moment, i dont know whats gone wrong this month
But i have very little of it. Need to plan how my last £35 will last me until pay pay  Its my own fault!
Plus I will still need to pay DS tutor £50 before the end of the month,
BUT have just remembered my CB should go in next monday, so that could cover part of it.
Going to play around with figures and double check the bank as i still need to get to work. And i dont even have a credit card now to put just my train travel on = temptation was too much having them in my purse so i chopped them up
Anyway, Back to work I go!0 -
Morning,
Been busy at work this morning a few people are off so covering different bits today.
Not spent any money i shouldnt off yet, only the £2.60 for travel. But not got any lunch
So will need to spend a couple of quid.
Started making yoghurt again, but its coming out really tart so need to nip over to the old style gods for help!
Hope everyone is well. DS is still feeling a bit ropey but one of his teeth fell out this morning so hes happy as the tooth fairy is coming tonight. Thats £2 I really dont have, but needs to be done.0 -
