  • dear me...

why are people so protective? its like when people try and block their own javascript code cos they dont want people stealing it. the whole point of open source is to share and use other peoples code.

Whats the difference with the net at the end of the day...

I just want to know, if you go on a website, why do you care so much that they have your ip? OMG what are they gna do? If you have a firewall they cant hack you. If you've done nothing wrong they won't ask the ISP for your details will they? They can't send you information through that IP Address.... so why do you want to hide it?!?!

Stop being difficult imo and use the internet how its meant to be used?! open up a webpage, browse the net. sorted...

And if that doesnt work Use IP proxy software. ;)
  • If that doesn't work.. find out why you can't connect to web pages.

Don't avoid the problem, solve it :) Thats what a real expert does ;) o how corny :D

If an expert is at hand if not try HideIP 2.6

Its legal to do so ;)
  • Lol... ok.... for anyone, if a page doesnt work TEST it using HideIP 2.6..

BUT.. i still think it should ONLY be used for that purpose, and is not a solution. Its only a solution for naughty problems :) agreed?

I dont think its for naughty things aswell, but I do see where yer coming from
its just that you came over very all matter of fact (sort of :o), I just think if you have
the software the PC and your paying for a connection then I know
its upto the payer of these services to do as they will with their cash.

Also whats the worse thing that can be done by hiding an IP ?

  • I have a tendancy to be very very blunt with my points :) If i was more accepting it wouldn't be a debate thus no point in it really mwahaha

At least this way everyone gets the argument at both sides and then can decide what they think :)

The worst thing that can be done? :P Erm, hiring a hitman over an online chat room is pretty bad i'd say haha

im a complete computer geek, thus hiding an ip is the same as walking out your house covered in black material. (in the robbing bank style, not certain religion style :$ i accept thats their belief).

So yes... why hide yourself away.. be open and freeeeeeeeeeee

Its up to the user once again yes.. but i still dont see why a user should go to one URL, then go to another URL, rather than just go to the second URL the first time and browse normally lol

Hmmm, there's no harm in hiding your ip. But as Merciless said, it's not really necessary for the average user, especially if you're on a dynamic ip. And unless you've got a decent proxy at hand, it's just extra hops which will most likely slow your connection down.

If privacy really is of concern, then the internet isn't the place to be.

Hit the nail on the head. Thats my 100% main point.

Its the same as wanting complete privacy, but leaving cards with your name and phone number all over supermarket checkouts :D

But having some xtra privacy isnt a bad thing, I would rather leave shredded evidence on a table rather than having a calling card lying about.

But It does slow a connection by some measure.
