How come you want to change your IP (assuming external?)
If you want to change your external IP address, it depends on many factors. Follow these steps:
Turn off you're ADSL Router/Cable Modem for around 15 seconds before switching it back on again
If the internet is direct to your pc, turn off your pc and then turnit back on again.
If the external IP is the same, turn the router/modem/pc off for a full 24 hours... then turn them back on again (after the IP has been flushed..)
If the external IP is STILL the same, you have been assigned a static ip address and only contact with your ISP can change this.
If you want to change your internal ip address (like on a network), then you need to turn off DHCP and manually configure all internal ip's and subnet masks
Hope this helps.[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

or use one of many automatic proxy programmes. Hide Ip is a neat little programme if you want to do this quite often

Why would one want to mask you're true ip address?!?
Signals mis-use to me[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

there can be many reasons to mask an ip address - most of which are obvious.0
-
yup.. obvious for mis-use.
IP Address should be thought of as a home address if static. If you do wrong things you will be traced.
If you haven't done wrong but banned from something, then rather than find ways to get round it, be honest and email them?
There are also blocking proxies in workplaces/uni/school for a reason (if that is why you want one)..[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

some people don't like to be tracked and rightly so - anonymous proxies are very useful.0
-
"rightly so"... not rightly so...
the internet is not a private place. when you sign up to a subscription in real life, you give your home address. If you sign up to something online, you auto send ur ip address.
Anonymous proxies are useful for doing things you dont want to be caught doing. That will be something that's probarbly not meant to be done![FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

absolute nonsense.
everyone is entitled to privacy should they so wish. You do not sign anything that says you advertise your details when you use the internet.0 -
You have bought a service from that Service Provider. They have given you an address. It's all for legal reasons. If they your IP is found on an illegal website, they have your IP good. If your IP isn't on an illegal page then even better.
Otherwise, it does not make a hell bit of difference if you go on any other web page with your normal IP Address? They can't do anything if you have firewall/protection, and if you dont, masking an IP isn't the answer!
Privacy's one thing.. sticking on a mask and running around the streets is another.[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

I have noticed that my IP address changes everytime I log on, will that ensure my privacy? I was told about the following site http://www.showmyip.com/gb/0
