I've had the exact same response as OneaDay in #542. Wait and see what happens I suppose.

BuyMobilePhones.net are quite a big outfit. For info they share the same address as:

A1 Comms (Not sure if they are the same company)

It's amazing how propaganda works. You know that HOW? ALL internet dealers dress up their size; Affordable Mobiles is another I've been looking at recently and even the figures they quote to try to persuade people don't add up.

This dealer appears to be quite small judging by a number of things - which always make them a riskier proposition. That doesn't mean they are doomed to fail - it merely means they aren't the one way bet some people might like to believe.

    I see very clearly indeed:-

"We have established different parts of the business and now employ more than 60 people. Last year we had a turnover of £30m."

That is no size at all. The quality of their paperwork alone shows that too!

Just had a look at the link and alarmingly under:

What are the plans for the future?
There is no mention of stating they will stick to the T&C's. :D

    and to quote:
To make this business a success, it is important that we are profitable.

Getting bad publicity from missing cashback payments won't help your reputation then.

If there was a genuine problem, would it not have been a good idea to inform you customers?? A simple email would have been suffice rather than just letting your customers bombard you with calls AFTER the deadline date had passed to find out there was an issue.

I have admittedly had good relations in the past, but it's the future that counts. For a company that takes 40 days to pay when P4U can send a check in 7/10 days there should be no late payments.
I hope they have learned not to leave it late again, no more excuses for me for this length of payment time.

I don't think it says much about anything. I always knew they were small, therefore higher risk - however, they did survive when all (and I do mean all!) the other small dealers went under. The blurb sounds ok, but blurb is blurb and promoting a positive front is the nature of business.

As a small organisation it might be difficult to identify, notify and then deal with the same (probable) volume of calls resulting when (given how many people fail to even check their bank statements!) most customers wouldn't notice a week or two's delay.

Phones4u IS a large organisation; and hasn't offered ANY decent deals for about 12 months. Pickings have been thin (I'm down to only five contracts myself - though not so long ago I got as low as three!), so you have to go where the supply is or stop feeding. It should become clear pretty quickly now if it's merely a blip or something more worrying. Meanwhile, there's not too much you could do apart from not giving them an extra two weeks on this occasion.

If you are minded to go down the lba route, the best time to do it is as soon as they breach the contract.

Now, if they let you down you still need to give them whatever time you choose to give them in your lba.

There is no downside to getting the lba in at the first opportunity.

I disagree about P4U. Dialaphone, a trading division of P4U (Dextra) and part of the Caudwell Group, had the best deal going on the Samsung Galaxy S - £20 pm on an 18month O2 contract. I say "had", as it's no longer available. At the time, however, it was the cheapest way to get an unbranded stock Galaxy S. The O2 contract was just a brucie bonus.

EDIT: Looks like the deal's back on for the SGS at Dialaphone! Not the best contract in the world, but a damn good deal for the handset. You can downgrade the tariff after 9 months to make it even cheaper. With cashback from TCB and downgrading the O2 contract after 9 months, you could end up paying £280 over 18th months - that's the cheapest way to get a stock, unbranded Galaxy S. Cheaper than buying it sim-free or PAYG from O2.

I 100% agree with you Quentin, the LBA should have been sent after one day late as the breach has been made.
This is a gesture of goodwill on my behalf because it's the first time it's happened with this company and I'll give them the benefit of doubt.
If it happened again, it couldn't and wouldn't be accepted as an "issue", especially the amount of time they have to process claims with THEIR T&C's. Fingers crossed it's just a "blip", but I do have a new contract with them and still a few months for the first claim.
I'll be watching this thread closely to see if others are having problems and if they are there would be no doubt there are serious issues.
Hopefully myself and others will update tomorrow or Thursday with the good news.

Looks like my cashback from BMP is entering my bank account today :D.
They should compensate me for lost interest due to the delay in paying out. ;)
