I've forgotten which thread this is supposed to be on as well - we get so side-tracked by IM and nielbound
My best thread yet though! Don't want to be giving away any spoilers yet but real life goes on and K has got a reduction to £40 a week thanks to a few helpful suggestions made on this forum - which argues against the case that M doesn't want to give K a lift - in fact its a very good deal for M - having almost all your travel costs paid for.
I take the point about the insurance !!!!!! - so what payment would you suggest to be fair -considering the avalanche of M supporters out there?'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts' : Member number 632

So we all helped get K a discount, right?
Can we charge some kind of brokerage fee?
I'm happy with 10% per week....;)Please take the time to have a look around my Daughter's website www.daisypalmertrust.co.uk

9 pages eh,

I expect this has all finished by now (no plans to read 9 pages!) but this is my suggestion:
if I were giving a lift daily to a colleague, and I also knew how much it would cost the other person to go by public transport, I would ask the person relying on the lift to suggest a realistic sum for payment. Otherwise, the person with the car gets the insults about being greedy & unfriendly...whilst doing all the driving and waiting about for the passenger....and as some have said, lots of people take the mick and push 'favours' to the limit.
Personally, if the roles were reversed and it cost me £400 a month on fares, I would gladly give the car driver at least £300 as it's still a saving for me and no waiting about at bus-stops either.0 -

How can that work?? 'Cos instead of me forking out £400 a month in fares and having the inconvenience and unreliability of public transport, I'd be getting a good deal at £300.
The reason I would let the passenger decide the cost is that if you ask for a realistic sum (as the OP's colleague) then you run the risk of being smeared as a greedy opportunist and end up in the dog-house for having the temerity to point out that petrol is not the only consideration..I would hope that the passenger is aware of the great monetary and time advantage to them and cough up.0 -
