Mine are wonderful :o. My parents have both children twice a week and on a Saturday its open house here where everyone squabbles between themselves as to who is changing nappies/feeding :D. I also have two sisters, an auntie and cousins who are forever buying clothes/nappies/formula. I know I am extremely fortunate and never take them for granted but I would be lost without them :o:A.

PS: sorry yours are so carp!

    xx

    Thanks - I think! :undecided

Nice to hear that everyone else hasn't got masses of friends popping round with casseroles ande currys though!! :D

Don't worry when I went in to have Chris I had to be told to take my knickers off for an internal by my MW :o:rotfl:

When I had my first daughter I had just turned 18, because I was having a section I totally refused to remove my knicks. To me it was the only good thing about having the section. I was very very modest.

The Dr laughed and said okay although he considered unhygenic, asked what I would have done had I been able to go for a natural birth.
  • Hope you're ok, emlou. Lots of hugs xxx

    Happy Due Date, AF!

we are all doing great minus the thrush and sick lol! luckily we seem to have a good little routine going and she has slotted in fine with the waythings are done! am getting a good few hours during the day and night she is going from 10-4 and 4.30-8 so cannot complain at all!!! how about you? are you getting much sleep/rest? she is very nosey and likes to watch!!!

hey well done on getting your routine sorted so quickly! :T:T:TFergus is his most fretful between an 11pm and a 2 am feed, won't settle, more kinda colicky and restless. Seems to want to snack all the time. We've been taking it in turns to do the graveyard shift, but it's a bit grim! I reckon I've averaged 3.5 hrs sleep a night since 4th March, having lost a night to labouring. Feels like it's taking it's toll. Fortunately, I only hate DH and my parents, and seem to feel miraculously loving and patient towards Fergus!:D

Hugs to Helen, Emlou and Mel, and does anyone know how MFD is?

  • Weezl, I absolutely hate having my sleep disturbed so I decided to stay up until 12:30/1am for Jamie's last feed and he now sleeps until at least 7am. I know its not for everyone but I feel much better for it. The plan is to make his bedtime earlier each week so he doesn't know any difference when its 7pm! :rotfl:.

PS: it worked with Poppy! :D

My mum and MIL live about 20 minutes away, and visited most days for the first two weeks - but did nothing but held the baby while I made tea, entertained the other two children (1/2 term week) and carried on doing normal stuff!!

All the books/pregnancy sites say to take advantage of all offers of help, people bringing meals - but we didn't get any offers of help!!

Out of interest - how many of those with babies/children already, had helpful friends/family around? (Is it just my friends and family that are carp?
    ).

Family/friends don't offer often, but I know I could ask them - they'd drop everything to help - just don't like to ask as everyone's always so busy with their own stuff. However, this time I WILL ask, cos DS3 will be not quite 2 1/2 & can be a bit of a handful! Got 2 good friends close by who I know will be absolute stars & will scream with delight when I finally tell them! :D (Can't get rid of Italics now!)
Not told anyone yet - not even DH(!), but think he may suspect - will tell him after I see MW for the first time next Monday, should be about 9 weeks then. We'll wait until after FA scan to tell people - that's what we did with the youngest - I was 39 when he was born & we wanted to be sure everything would be OK before we said & that's even more the case now as I'll be 41 when #5 arrives!

My dad died just before Christmas, so it's going to be quite sad that he'll not be here when the newest grandchild is born, but we'll deal with it - some families have far worse things to deal with.

Off to write list for DH for chippy :D - see you later. Labour vibes, hugs, etc to all who need them.

    A xo

weezl how do you manage i couldnt go without sleep! i put it down to as soon as she was here she was put down and we have just tried to keep things the same every night since she was born! when erin doesnt settle we have found that lying her across our knees and swinging them back and forward settles her and also putting her over our shouler so her stomach is actually pushed in over your shoulder??? dont know why or how but it helps with her wind. i know i would try anything to settle her lol!

hope things get a bit easier and settle down soon for you!

R.Mac glad to see you back hope your both doing well and send your mum over any time:D
