How many cute outfits has everyone been buying?
Everyone at work tells me not to buy "too many" cos everyone likes to buy cute outfits as presents for a newborn.. but how many is too many?!
I suppose it would be best to buy plain, cheap-ish packs of sleepsuits etc then buy the cute outfits once I know which size I'll need after baby comes along, but I'm struggling to resist the cute outfits now!
tbh, imo, babygros are by far the easiest thing for newborns - floppy bodies/ arms/ legs are a hassle to get in and out of other items - cute though they may be. Hard though it may be, resist - people will buy you the cute stuff and they also grow out of it quite quickly, anyway. If you must, buy something 3-6 months!:rotfl:
We've bought a hooded cardigan/ jacket and I'll buy a coming home outfit (which will in essence be a fancy babygro). Other than that I have some socks and a blanket. Although, of course, I have loads of stuff from previous babies :rotfl: :rotfl: I did buy some funky navy & green babygros from Sainsburys in the sale the other day - but they were 3-6 months, as I know I've got lots of white newborn ones, and people will buy 0-3. I need to temper my desire for this one to have some new stuff against the practical view that we have boxes and boxes (about 5 packing boxes full) of stuff sized 0-6 months! I'm working on the basis that new stuff will be presents - otherwise we'll be inundated with clothes and it just won't wear them! (I also have some brand new rompers from a woman on freecycle (still with tags) who had twins last year and was inundated and gave me a pile of unworn clothes - inc ones from next. I'm figuring it can wear them when we're on hols in South of France when it's about 8 weeks old:eek:  )

I know what you mean greent, Aimee gets a lot of pass me downs from 2 friends and my sister so she always has something bigger to grow into... Makes it hard for me to buy her clothes though, I just can't justify it half the time... Which is very MSE... But sometimes it's nice to treat my little girl to a new outfit...
Just cooked myself my special Mothers day meal lol... Did Roast Lamb (A present from Mr Asda... I ordered a really cheap cut of stewing lamb and they sent me £8 worth of boneless leg!) with veggies and roasters... Followed by home made jam sponge steamed pudding which was scrummy!! (Although I burnt the pan dry... Oops!) Aimee's doing ok at the moment while we keep the calpol and calprofen topped up... Hubby just put the goonies on for them to watch together...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Happy Mothers Day and Mothers-to-be Day girls!
I was up all night with DS2 throwing up, a little at a time so lots of bed changes  Much prefere them to just get it all over and done with in the once. He had too much junk yesterday, DS1 had a friend in and they stole the biscuit tin when I was doing the dishes, and helped themselves to crisps from the cupboard under the stairs. Fine today though, as usual.
I got handmade cards and a card from hubby and the boys and breakfast in bed (which is what I chose as I didn't really want anything, a teddy would just have been a waste to me and breakfast in bed is a real treat).
Baby clothes, I agree that babygro's are about it for the first few weeks till they are a bit bigger and less floppy. With a cardi and matching hat for going outEverything else is just a faff and the amount of times you change them... babygro's don't need to be ironed too!
Wonder if kiddicare have a wishlist, think I will make one up for there or mothercare while DH plays xbox and kids are out playing.0 -
Chocolates bought, cards written, homemade biscuits made and packaged up nicely involving foil trays, tissue paper and clingfilm!
(blue peter afternoon!).. Off out on visits soon
Figured it's going to get expensive this year - we'll have a grandchild for them all to get cards from by Grandparents' Day! (September, isn't it?) :rolleyes:0 -
ooo its quiet here today, must be cos its mothers day! my one week old baby managed to buy me two cards and some chocolates despite me not letting him out of my sight all week, what a clever boy!!
poor jade, i feel so sorry for her boys, she dedicated her last few weeks to ensuring they would be taken care of in the best way possible for the rest of their lives, that must have provided such a comfort to her and i cant believe all those people knocked her for it.
my washing machine died this morning, its the worst time in the world for it to happen, who knew such a small man could make so much washing?! i tried telling it that when you put it on dryer mode its not meant to fill up with water and refuse to drain, but did it listen? nooo...
i definitely agree with the clothes thing, babygrows are the easiest thing, dungarees are terrible for quick changes i really wouldnt bother with them until they're a bit older, cute as they are. little seth kicks and wriggles and screams his head off when he's having his nappy done so speed is of the essence. only buy things with either very stretchy necks or poppers, dont bother with anything with buttons cos they're too fiddly! all in one sleepsuits are fantastic inventions cos you can spread it out and then put him on top and do it up round him! we've also found stretchy feety trousers to be good cos they slide on and off easily, and his feet are too small for even newborn size socks and bootees so they keep his toes nice and warm. we bought loads of the tesco value plain white ones and we keep him in those in the house then when we got out we put on something a bit more fancy.
does anyone know of a good stain remover thats suitable for newborn clothes? we've had a few poopy nappy security breaches and non bio stuff just isnt shifting it :mad:Mummy to

Nappisan is the cat's whiskers for poo stained baby clothes, and if you can dry them naturally in direct sunlight. Its specially designed for baby's nappies so shoudn't have any problems with baby's skin - certainly it didn't bother either of my two even as newborns.0
