For my £17-74 I get my line rental,up to 8 meg Broadband (average is 6.5megs),free evening and weekend calls, free LOCAL calls anytime, free international calls, anytime to 36 countries, and from 2nd June free 0870 & 0845 numbers within my calling package.
On their headline page for the TT Essentials package I cannot see any mention of the free calls to 36 countries being inclusive in the package. This information is buried deep in the tariff. It's not satisfactory.

Also there are tabs to links if you are an existing landline or broadband customer whereas many customers are both! Which link do I press.

On the headline page there's no mention of the free 0845/0870.

They frequently offer free connection. On the link that you have provided there is no mention of the 0845/0870 benefit, nor is there mention of the 36 countries you can call for free.

In their tariff sheet it says:

On My Talk Talk Essentials, International and Global Tariffs free international calls are available to the following landline destinations. For details of when these free calls are available, please see tariff summary.

Yet there appears to be no place where details of when these free calls are shown.

What is it about these people that they cannot grasp from complaints made in forums like this that they need to sharpen their act up and present their tariff structure in a way that is both easy to access and is transparent?

    Steve,
I retain the 36 international numbers because I`m an existing customer.
The free local calls started on 1st May and the 0870 & 0845 start 2nd June.

Each to their own,but I cannot fault TT and have encouraged a relative to sign up to their current deal with free connection.

You imply that you managed to retain the 36 international free routes due to your being an existing customer. Yet their tariff pdf file seems too suggest that the 36 countries are free on the Essentials tariff and therefore free to existing and new customers?

Yes I agree that TT are great value and I can understand you in encouraging your relative to go to TT. However, should your exchange line develop a fault, as mine did a couple of years back, you may find that TT are reticent about attending to fix it. It took a frustrating two months to get them to send an engineer out here. When the guy came out it took him 30 minutes to locate and fix the faulty rotted wire pair on a telegraph pole outside the house. Indeed it was one of their reps on this forum who in the end escalated the problem and sorted it for me because I'd detailed the problem on here and was reporting how poor their service was.

    QUOTE]

I did retain them for being an existing customer but also because I changed to the Essentials package to gain free local calls anytime and in June the free 0870 & 0845 numbers.

AFAIK anyone signing up now on the Essentials package doesn`t get the 36 countries.

Yes I thought that at one point, but look here, on their tariff, at the top of page4, Top 36 International Destinations:

    http://media.talktalk.co.uk/sites/TalkTalk/Global/PDF/TalkTalkPricePlan.pdf

It implies that all TT Essentials customers do get this?

I see what you mean it is very ambiguous.
On their page detailing the Essentials package there is no mention of it.
