People should also be aware that the 'free calls' are being cut back from 70 minutes to an hour at the start of May as well.

Have a look at their new price list dated 1/4/09
    here: http://media.talktalk.co.uk/sites/TalkTalk/Global/PDF/TalkTalkPricePlan.pdf

On page 2 it clearly shows Intl Calls are no longer inclusive.

On page 3 under extra,s it shows voice customers with line rental will be charged £3.95 for (Free calls to the Top 36 Landline Destinations at any time of the day)

I elected to join talktalk when Charles Dustone anounced "Free Broadband Forever" at £9.99 which would give 24/7 free calls and the 30+ international calls. Thus far I have been satisfied, but having read half-stories I thought I would phone them to see if it affected me.

The result is that my line rental will increase 75p to be in-line with BT. I can live with that. Also instead of being able to talk for 70 mins before redialling, it will now be 60 mins. That also is no problem as I previously told myself it WAS 60 mins and ensured calls were terminated after 50min. So in a way I and anyone else on this package, isn't affected too much.

Thanks for that, found it! Page 3 states:
International Extra £3.95 Applicable to all customers

To clarify, does this affect new customers only, or are existing customers going to cease receiving free international calls?

    Hi all,

customers already receiving international calls as part of their package will continue to get these. There are a lot of questions in this thread and I am sorry if anyone has been missed and not got an answer to thier questions - they do all apear to have been covered by myself or other members from what I can see. If anyone needs their account looking at to see what they are currently getting against the new plans then its best if you post at https://www.talktalkmembers.com/forums as thats where I spend most of my day. I can look at accounts and answer specific quesitons then rather than general advise which may be more helpful for most people posting here.

    Cheers

I have just spoken to Talk talk customer services twice, and feel i have been provided wrong information.

I read in the thread some exciting changes coming up regarding free local calls ib 1st May 2009 and free calls to 0845 and 0870 on 2nd June 2009, along with the down side of increase in line rental, calls etc.. I am currently on the Talk international Evening and weekend call plan (free talk talk calls, free off peak non landline calls and calls to 36 international countries anytime).

I understand my package will increase from £16.49 per month to £17.14 on 1st May 2009. For an extra 60p a month I can get the free 0845/0870 and day time local calls, is this correct?

when I telephoned customer services, the first lady told me to telephone 0800 049 1420. When I called this number, it was a automatic number requesting I punch in my home telephone number, which i did. The system then told me someone will get back to me, and cut the call. I could not speak to anyone!!!!

I telephone back a second time, and was told existing customers would not need to change phone packages as 0845/0870 and free day time local calls would be added. I was told Talk talk have started sending letters out to its customers. Today is the 19th April 2009, not received any information. I told customer service, and they told me to email customerservice@talktalk.co.uk.

I dont want to chase talk talk again, can you please assist me???

I'm sure Talk Talk Company Representative will be along shortly to answer your query.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
