Just to clarify 0871 numbers would not be free as part of your talk plan. Sorry if you have been told differently by the sales team.
Cheers

No doubt other suppliers will be following suit.
free 0845/0870 has almost always been inevitable, with the introduction of the 03 number rangeIf saved £2710 and only spent the interest (Based on a return of 5%), you would have enough money to pay your TV Licence every year. Saving you £7452.50 over a period of 55 years, based on you buying a license from the age of 20 until your 75 at a cost of £135.50.0 -
Hi Em, may I ask a few questions?
To set the scene, I joined TalkTalk in March 2007 on the Talk 3 package with broadband, which has been fine for me so far. When the contract expired last year, I floated on while I decided what my best option was. I was interested in the offer available to new customers of myTalkTalk for £6.49 a month (free for the first 12 months) as I don't really need the inclusive daytime calls.
I rang to ask if I could be put onto this (I have no objection to signing a new 18 month contract if necessary) but was told this wouldn't be possible as an existing customer. However, retentions were able to effectively replicate the offer by giving me a six month credit of £38.94 (i.e. free for six months) and not putting me on a new contract. I am therefore not paying for six months and free to negotiate something new in six months' time.
I asked to be moved onto the myTalkTalk package going forwards while they were at it. However I have been given several conflicting stories about this package which I would be grateful if you could clarify:
1) Are international calls to the 36 countries included? From reading this forum I think so as I changed before June, but please clarify. Also are they anytime free calls, or off peak only like UK calls? [While on your website, an online chat with a customer service agent initiated, and she swore blind that free international calls would be withdrawn for all customers from May. I followed this with a phone call to a customer service agent who swore blind that international calls would continue to be included!]
2) Will I also be getting free 0870/0845 calls from June? Will these be anytime or evenings and weekends only? If I am eligible, do I need to opt in, or will they be free automatically?
3) Am I correct in thinking my basic line rental will be increasing to 11.25 a month from my next bill?
4) Would my changing package take effect immediately or from my next bill date? Again I got two different answers from two people. If immediately, would I get a small credit on my next bill as the new package is cheaper?
Thanks for your assistance. I have to say I have been very happy with TalkTalk for the two years I have been with them. The packages are good value for money and the customer service agents I talk to seem keen to help. The only small gripe is that on the odd occasion I do need to contact them, I can sometimes get conflicting information, as in this case!If I had a pound for every time I didn't play the lottery...0 -
Utility Warehouse have them included from 1/4/09 (just in case anyone asks I'm not a distributor, btw, I'm not even a customer - yet!

I left TalkTalk CPS in January because of endless problems and an unrequested suspension of service for which they have never apologised.
It meant going back to BT but they're no better (or worse) than TT.
Having read through the new details I doubt I'll be switching back. People should also be aware that the 'free calls' are being cut back from 70 minutes to an hour at the start of May as well.(A really petty change IMO)
Paying line rental to TT and losing access to the genuinelly cheap call providers is not something I'd ever contemplate. Only Virgin Media seem marginally worse than TT.0
