By the way what is the cheapest way of dialling 0845 or 0870 numbers.
    £2.00 Savers Club = £34.00 So Far

+ however may £2 coins I have saved in my Terramundi since 2000.

So let me get this straight, we have digital phone, only one is plugged into a phone socket, so I guess I only need one dialler. Also am I correct in thinking that I do not have to enter the area code for local numbers just as it is now, just area codes for out of area.

Yes you are correct. The dialler goes in front of the base station.
The routing takes care of local numbers by picking up your area code when it first dials home. If you ask Orchid to set up your initial routing table, the local numbers will be already programmed in. After that you just dial local calls normally.

I've just accidently unplugged my dialer from the BT socket and I dont have the external power supply. Do I need to redownload the settings or does the unit keep the date for a while?

    thanks

AFAIK there's no battery backup so it'll likely lose date/time & routing tables almost immediately. Definitely recommend a redownload.

It will have automatically re-downloaded as soon as you plugged it back in

All you need to do is force home a call .

    Are you absolutely sure???

If this was the case then presumably whenever we update our routing table - instead of faffing about force dialling we could simply unplug the dialler and then re-connect!

I would be surprised if you are right - but would be happy to be corrected!

The good news is we are going to get one, bad news is I opened my mouth, hubby is going to set it up. Which is most annoying because he does like to do things without the aid of a safety net.(ie does not read the manual). He always manages it but it can take a few mins longer.
