I think there's a thread somewhere with recommended settings but in long run it depends on your setup. If you get the CWClient after they have done intital setup it easily allows you to tweak things yourself (and I have no doubt if you really messed up that Orchid would dig you out!)
18866 have upped their connection charge so for now use 1899 and 18185 for mobiles. If you're on BT then drop to BT Together level 1 and use either of Martins recommended Carrier Pre Selects to get free evening and weekend calls.
I wish there was some easy way to export dialler settings but if I can remember right mine are
Landlines - Day 1899, E&W Not Routed (= use CPS)
Mobile - 18185 all time
0845 - use CPS override (1280) to use BT
0870 - 18185 anytime
118xxx and 192 - use the freephone directory enquiries
You can set premium numbers and 070 numbers to be barred0 -

Only just seen your reply Woby-Tide, but thanks for that info. I hadn't a clue how it all works, but you've made it clear for me.
I will now happily programe my Ranger phone. Haven't had it long, but so far I'm really pleased with it, especially as you can use it with a headset.0 -
Good piece in the latest newsletter:-MASSIVE PRICE CUT 1p/min to call mobiles at all times, no account needed
This is offered by a new company, Cleverates. Compare it to BT, OneTel or Talk Talk which charge 12-21p/min midweek and 3p-8p at weekends. Better still you needn't set up an account to access it, just dial 0844 721 2525 from your home phone then the mobile's number and all you pay is 1p/min billed on your home phone line. One thing to watch; the mobile number must be in the international format eg 07979 654321 becomes 00-44-7979 654321.
Anyone got a quick tip on how best to program this into CWClient?0 -
I think you will have to request Orchid to add it to their list of carriers.0

hmm, I just found Clever Rates in the drop down list in CWClient with the correct access number but after dialling it asks for the number to be keyed in in the format 00 44 7979 654321 followed by the star key so you end up dialling the number twice. I'll ask Orchid if they can automate this in some way.0

Can I remind Orchid users that the Clever Rates cheap rates may well not last beyond the New Year so please keep an eye on the website for rate changes0

Anyone else have the Ranger phones and noticed that it's hard to hear the caller very clearly? They can hear me just fine. Think I may have to call Orchid.0
