I see that Orchid do a DECT phone with LCR built in for £14.99 for MSE referrals.
It's only a penny more expenxive than the V4 Plus.
Any reason not to go for this option over the V4 Plus box?
Cheers

do you get a discount for the phones or is it just the diallers .0

If you go through the drop down list on the left (dial up no.) there are options to pick it using one of the other carriers - although they are marked "Not recommended" - if your calls are 5p and they would be 4p under 1899 is it worth the risk that the update doesn't work?steven_cardwell wrote:Beware when trying to update/force home the dialler, i had problems with my CW Client, and getting the dialler to accept what was on the updated CW Client, for instance i wanted to use 18185 for mobiles, but the dialler was still going thru' 1899.
I ended up emailling Orchid, who to their credit, sorted the problem out, however when i have checked my BT statement, i have quite a few ringbacks at 5p a shot to Orchid, with myself trying to update the dialler, if the dialler is set up (originally) for 18866 for home calls, why did the call backs appear on the BT bill?
I have set up for Primus, free evening and weekend calls, so my question is, if the dialler has to phone home, what bill does it appear on, 1899 that i have set up for daytime calls, or the CPS which from today is Primus?
This is a slight worry, as i don't really want any "hidden" charges appearing on a bill, that sort of puts down the actual point of the dialler, especially if the product isn't going to use it's own routing table!0 -

If you've only one phone then there's no difference and you get a cordless phone.
Multiple phones depend on your setup - if its feasible to plug them or the extensions they're on into the dialler then the dialler is the way forward.
If they are too distant then you either need to buy a second dialler or a second handset for the DECT and turf the original phone.0 -
Hi
I've just installed a v4 dialler and it is running on the default standard settings. To get the best savings what is teh current best setup to have on your dialler.
Plus do I have to contact Orchid to do teh changes or can I do that myself ?
Thanks for any help. This is a huge thread to go through but I have gone through it and I need clarification before I make any changes.
Cheers

I presume I could program the 4 DECT handsets I currently have to work with this basestation.

This really depends on what accounts you have set up for yourself and who the main bulk of your calls go through. Plus are you BT or cable?0 -

Their pdf appears to indicate that the handset supplied with the Ranger 400 can be used for basic (LCR) programming of the base station but it doesn't say whether it's GAP or not.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
I'm on BT lines at the moment. No chance of cable up here in the Shetland Islands. I do have an account with 18866 which is setup on the routing table and also 1899 is on the routing table.0
