If you includue all the bedding/towel/sports kit washes each week then my machine easily does 12-15 washes per week. It did 2 yesterday and I've done 2 today with one more to go. Am SO GLAD to have discovered the soda and capful of liquid trick (thanks TM) as its saving me a fortune!
Can anyone tellme what the soda and capful of liquid trick is please?
Thanks

I don't know about anyone else, but I use a capful of laundry liquid and 1 scoop (from a washing powder box, so it's about 25ml) of soda crystals in every wash. When I do whites I also add a scoop of oxygen bleach.
I also put these straight into the drum on top of a few of the clothes. That way every bit gets used, rather than a soggy pile of gunk being left in the dispenser drawer!0 -
Thank you, i'll try it!0

There is 2 of us in the house and occassional DSS brings washing but we leave that for now.
I do 2-3 washes a week - the washing machine takes bed sheets and OH's white shirts all at once and then I also do dark wash (socks, towels, Tshirts). It takes all our dark wash at once.
Definitely not wash towels after every use, I find that personaly absolutely ridiculous (only my opinion of course!!). Sheets I wash weekly. Jumpers in a winter I wash about monthly (hand wash program), I use them all on rota basis and then stick them all in at once to make sure the washing machine is fullish so I don't put it on for 2 sweaters.
I have 7kg washing machine and it does fit all our weekly washing at once. Only sometimes I need to do more. I also use colour catchers to be able to mix different colours together when needed.0 -
I do at least one load a day. Theres 3 of us, and my dog.0

There are 5 of us and I do 2 washes a day. Towels are done once a week and sheets done every 2 weeks.
Though one of my lot was sick last week for 4 days so I am on catch up at the moment.
I've just got a new machine and it is 6kg instead of 7kg and I am noticing a difference.
I use half the amount of powder and don't use fabric conditioner.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
just me here, but I have a work uniform, horse, and gym trips so about 3-4 washes a week. Depends how fast I can dry the clothes as I don't have a tumble dryer, and not allowed a washing line0

there are 4 of us, me, DH and 2 sons aged 20 & 24.
I wash bedding every 2 weeks (3 loads), everyone has their own towels so they usually get done every 2 weeks as well (2 loads).
clothes washing about 5 loads a week
we have also got 2 dogs so dog bedding 1 load a week (more often in winter when they come home from walk all muddy)
other things such as soft furnishings and coats as required.
I use half the amount of detergent that it says on the packet, and have recently started usinig vinegar instead of fabric conditioner.
When I use the tumble dryer I empty the water from the condenser tray into the washing machine to reuse (I don't know if this saves me water or just makes more water for the washing to splosh around in, but i don't want to pour it down the drain). although I try to dry as much outside when weather is good.0 -
Household of two humans and one longhaired cat. Five loads a week.
1. Bedsheets (double fitted sheet, kingsize duvet cover, six pillow cases)
2. Bathroom linen (two thick bath sheets, one thick hand towel, bathroom mat, couple of flannels)
3. Clothes (sorted by colour eg red and purples or blue and greens together)
4. Another load of clothes
5. Other stuff (underwear / household cloths / bedspread / blankets and cushion covers / mattress and pillow protectors)
Got a new washable shower curtain so will have to see if that fits in the bathroom load or if it needs doing separately.0
