How many loads of washing a week?

It really depends on the usage of individual items and where they are worn / used!
Handtowels in the bathroom gets used for 1-2 days before tossed in the laundry basket but facecloths are put in laundry basket after 1 day. 23mo bedding is washed weekly, ours is washed fortnightly.
Underwear is washed after each wear (or rather clumped together and washed in a full load); husband goes through 2 pairs of socks each day because of smell but short of amputating his feet we're resigned to that one!
His workclothes are worn for a week - he has overalls at work so only wears them for an hour each morning and evening. Of my workclothes - skirts worn for minimum 2 - 3 days, blouses & t-shirts worn once. 23mo DD clothes are washed after one wear (unless jumper / cardigan and still clean.
When DH lived at his mum's he'd throw his work clothes in the wash, get changed and go out for a couple of hours and these clothes would be thrown in the wash, even towels used once and washed and his mother let him:eek:. Then he lived on his own for six months and changed his ways so drastically that he'd wash every three weeks and squish as mush as possible into the washing machine in one go.DFW Nerd Club #545 Dealing With Our Debtnever attribute anything to malice which can be adequately explained by stupidity, [paranoia or ignorance] - ZTD&[cat]

I do about 3 washes a week.....(three of us live in the house)....
One wash with clothes (I wash it all at 30, so tend to mix whites and colours - gasp!)
One wash with either towels or bedding....
One wash with DD's stuff (she is 17, so can manage this herself now - it is curing her of wearing it for 20 minutes then washing it!)
We have more than enough underwear to cope for a week or two, we all wear clothes all day and all evening and sometimes even jammies.... do I pack my machine fuller than everyone else?!?!?Aiming to be debt & mortgage free by November 2018!0 -
I do a dark load every day, and a white/light coloured wash twice a week. DH comes home filthy from his work, and children get their clothes dirty at school.
Bedding is changed weekly, and towels are washed after each use for a couple of reasons - a wet/damp towel doesn't dry a person properly, I wouldn't fancy drying my face on a towel which has dried somebody's privates!0 -

Another one here who does a weekly towel wash - we each have our own face towel and bath towel and they are hung to dry every time they are used - and after a shower we should be clean! If the face towels ever looked grubby (when the boys were growing up theirs did - clearly not washing properly!!) then I'd automatically do them more often. Downstairs cloakroom towel always changed before anyone comes who might use it, so always clean for visitors - if just us, then I do change that one every few days anyway. Rest of washing done as needed - after 40 years DH knows not to throw jumpers in after one wearing! Have always changed shirts, blouses, underwear daily. All sheets changed weekly.Resolution:

Bedding is washed weekly here, towels as necessary, but certainly not after every use - everyone showers/has a bath daily, so not really 'dirty', usually hung up to dry. Clothes are washed by me if put in the laundry basket, but generally the kids do their own washing. Was only thinking yesterday that would probably have lots less washing to do if I got rid of the laundry basket in the bathroom, and got them all new ones for their rooms! Trip to Primarni scheduled for cheap £2 pop up ones!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000

Everyone has own set of bath and hand towel (so no using someone elses) always dry/air each bath towel every day (so no using damp/wet towels) wouldn't dream of using bath towels for hands or face thats what the hand towels are for ... the hand/face towels are changed every other day and bath towels every 5/7 days..#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

I always used to check clothes when my boys were still living at home. They were as bad as girls for trying something on then putting it down for washing! I also only washed clothes that were put in the dirty laundry bin - if it was left on the floor it stayed there until they did something about it. They were both very good about hanging towels up, though, which surprised me!
We always have our own towels - I'm really fussy about that! I change the bedlinen once a week, and teatowels and dishcloths every day, another thing I'm fussy about.
I add soda crystals to soap powder to make it go further and the results are just as good, and I use vinegar instead of fabric conditioner. It all saves money.
Now that it's just DH and I, I have very little ironing - I've just done this week's and it was nothing compared to having to do school uniforms and so on.KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

Bedding and towels washed once a week here - we all have our own bath/hand towels, and there are heated towel rails in both bathrooms, so they dry quickly. I would prefer to wash them more often, as even if you've just had a shower, when you dry yourself, skin cells are rubbed off, onto the towel, which is a bit yucky. However, I don't want to do even more washing
My DH is the worst offender for wearing a t-shirt in the evening after he comes home from work, then putting it in the washing basket - he thinks I don't notice, but I do if I have ironed something and put it away on a Tuesday, say, then find it in the washing basket on Wednesday morning! I take it out and put it back in his drawer :rotfl:Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.
