I have a shower every morning and a bath once a week, usually on a Sunday evening for a nice relaxing soak

  • Shower daily, usually in the evening. Unless feeling cold or ill and then a soak in the bath by candlelight

Shower every morning. Sometimes at the weekend bath instead of shower.
The only times I don't shower is when I've been to Spa/pool the evening before, so then don't see the point as I would have had shower there...
So generally 1 shower every 24 hours.

hubby & I shower daily, couldn't deal with any less than that. I never feel clean with what my dear old nan used to call a "cat lick"

We're very business like about it, and aren't the sort to hang around wasting water. In fact we recently got our water bill that said that we use what an average single person in a flat would use !!!

  • I'm curious to know why lots of people like to shower eveyday/ twice a day? Unless you have a really grotty job like a fishmonger i really can't see the point.
I bath once a week but do a 'personal' wash daily.

  • In the bad old days before central-heating and hot water on demand bathing in the winter was more of a punishment than a pleasure, so it's not surprising that people only got fully stripped off and wet once a week!

I suspect that once fuel becomes really unaffordable some will reconsider bathing or showering twice a day, every day.

I can't afford to heat the water for a daily bath (I don't have a shower) so I strip-wash more often than I bathe. At least that way, with no heating on I don't get freezing-cold all over, just bits of me at a time. Needs must when the devil drives!
  • Saving on hot water.
Baths don't have to be filled. Yes, it's nice to relax in, but if you just want to get in, get clean, get out, then you can do that in a few inches of water.

Modern power showers use a huge amount of water, so try turning them down a bit and having an old-fashioned 'dribbley' shower instead.

I never feel as clean from just a flannel/sink wash so shower every day, but I agree people used to manage with just that and only bathe once or twice a week, so it's still an option.

Kids can share a bath with each other or you.

Daily showers for DH and I, he is disabled, takes a lot of meds and spends quite a bit of time in bed so gets very sweaty. I don't feel clean unless I've showered each day and I have to wash my hair daily as it stands up on end otherwise.

DDs (both teens) shower every other day/every day depending on activity levels/work etc.

No shower gels, just a good old bar of soap, everyone uses the same generic shampoo, if there's leg shaving to be done then it's sit on the edge of the bath with a warm soapy flannel to save running water for ages.

I can be in, soaped up, shampooed, conditioned, scrubbed, rinsed out, dry, dressed and hair dry in 8 minutes.

I'm the only one that likes to bath but I can't spare the time to enjoy it properly.

We are in the middle of having our bathroom replaced. The bath is going because I can no longer get in and out of it. It is being replaced with a large shower cabinet so I can move around it easily and/or put a little seat in there if things get that bad.

The memsahib showers every morning and sometimes in the evenings too. I've been forced to have a strip wash for the last 18 months because I can't get into the bath. The old shower was above the bath. Once or twice I've used the bath because I made a supreme effort. It was so difficult to get in and out. Herself had to help me but she's only little and can't take my weight.,

The Northern Ireland Housing Executive surveyed our bathroom and offered to completely revamp it for us. When I looked at the plans and Schedule of Works however I realised we were going to finish up with a bathroom which looked like something you'd see in a roadside service station or hospital so I declined and waited until I'd saved up enough money to pay for something much more attractive.

We own the house you see, outright, and we both thought we should keep an eye to the future in case we ever want to sell and move on. Even removing the bath is a big leap of faith but we just don't have the room for both.

At any rate, when the work is over and the sealant has dried, I'll be looking forward to steeping straight into my new "power shower" every morning and getting back to my normal hygienic self.

What a pity it won't improve my looks. :(
  • We (me and hubby) generally shower 5 times a week but I sometimes share a bath with DS :)
