OS Daily Wed 11th March 09

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 11th March. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!

Morning all. First time I've started this thread so hope I've done it right.

Wannabe sybil - how's your little one this morning after his head bump yesterday? Did you get any sleep last night?

It's freezing cold here and I've just watched hubby scrape the ice of his windscreen before heading off to the daily grind.

I've got two hours of writing to do this morning. Then I need to create two spreadsheets, one monitoring the extra money hubby and I are making through ebay and the fees and postage we're paying so we can track exactly how much we have to throw at debt at the end of the month. The second is to monitor our daily spending patterns and monthly budget, and identify what big bills are due out during the year so we can save for them in advance.

Dinner tonight will be super cheap and lovely - chickpea and kidney bean curry. Hubby's favourite.

Not too many chores to get through, but must get some fresh air and exercise at some point. Also think about less tea drinking - 10 plus cups is not good for me.

  • Morning Steel and all who follow - GET UP, YOU LAZY THINGS!!!

WS How's little bear? I love hearing about his antics. It reminds me so much of my little bear (who is now 14:eek: )

I meant to pop in yesterday to say CONGRATULATIONS to all the new grandmas/grandads/mummies and daddies:T :T :T :T Enjoy those little bundles - they grow so fast.

Sitting in bed, having my first cup of coffee. Two spaniels cuddled at the foot of the bed - it doesn't get much better than this!
Poached eggs on hm bread for breakfast.
Lunch will be LO chicken/salad sandwich.
Dinner - browsing through the Lakeland catalogue (we are buying my DS a moskie for her birthday) I saw a ravioli maker thingy. Think I might have a go at pasta tonight - p'raps tagliatelli. There is some passata lurking in the fridge and a few rashers of bacon - a sprinkling of parmesan and Bob's your uncle.

    Have a good day peeps.

HI Steel, Lillibet and all who follow.

Bethebee - congratulations on your great news! I'm very impressed with your DD! I bet the baby is gorgeous.

Wannabe - hope Little Bear is getting over his bump.

Well, I've not had much to say on here for ages now; we're up to our necks in packing and paperwork for our move (less than two weeks now), and I keep ticking one thing off my many lists and adding several more!)

Not much real OS'ing going on either, although I did do a stew last night and saved enough for dinner tomorrow. I suspect we'll be having something easy tonight, like egg and chips. Puddings have gone right out of the window lately; I can't be bothered to faff about in the kitchen when there are so many other things that need doing.

We need to get some more boxes today; I've filled loads up with books already. We've dismantled the spare room bed and started stacking up all the boxes in the room, and today we are starting on the other spare bedroom. DH has sorted out the shed and that's all ready to go. We've got someone coming to look at a few things we're not taking with us, so hopefully they'll be gone and the amount to squeeze into the moving truck will not look quite so daunting.

Anyway, I'd better go and put the kettle on again!
    Lots of (((hugs))) to everyone.

    See you all later.

Morning everyone :D I've not had much time to read the threads lately but I thought I'd pop in and say hello

Also big (((hugs))) to those who are down or feeling below par.

Sitting in bed, perusing the web, before I start the day. I've been down stairs and taken the bread out of the breadmaker and put the packed lunches together. Now I'm having a few minutes of 'me time'.

Lunch is HM tomato and lentil soup, HM five seed bread and a selection of fruit. OH also has a HM chocolate chip muffin in addition to this.

OH is out tonight, so I'll be putting on the washing machine and catching up with the ironing basket. I may also do a stock take of the storecupboard and make up a list of the things I need to stock back up again over the coming weeks.

Have a lovely OS day everyone :D

    Good morning everyone,

    ((((((((((((((((((((((hugs all round)))))))))))))))))))

Mioliere You sound so busy yet so organised :T Hope that it continues to go well for you.

Got up with a really sore throat today so have taken some pain killers & got my cup of coffee which is bound to help :rotfl: The dogs & cats are fed & the WM is on. The forecast looks rotten here today so I'll hang it all upstairs I think. Spicy lentil soup for lunch & gammon, new pots, peas & parsley sauce for dinner. I boil/simmer the gammon 1st, then cut the fat off, cover it with a marmalade & mustard glaze & bake in a hot oven for about 20 mins  already!

Going to the supermarket this morning for the usual weekly shipping order ;) although I will 'shop' from the pantry before I go for pasta, choccie biscuits, cereal, rice & any other dried goods :T Then I'm going to see my friend who had a migraine from h*ll yesterday - she was sick every 30mins for about 7 hours poor thing.

Hope everyone has a good day

 Morning all, :grouphug:for everyone who needs one :grouphug:.

I did another post last night and it disappeared......just could not be bothered to retype it.

Woke about 4.30am, decided to get up just before 6am, have had a cup of tea, just thinking about another one.........

Hope to get OH out for a walk today, doubtless past the house at some point. I went to Wilko's yesterday got some weed killer to spray the patio, if it looks like being fine I might take it with me and have a spray.

Nothing really planned for today. I had to undo the front of OH's pullover last night, I had read the pattern wrong, silly me:eek:

I got the bolero back yesterday, was going to start the other one, but OH decided to have a dizzy, just confirmed that our decision to move is the right one..........we have a round of hospital appointments coming up starting with the eye clinic on Saturday.

Right going for my second :coffee: tea will have coffee a bit later.

Still very busy at work & NVQ meeting today, it takes an hour or 2 out of my day that I can't spare.
The staffroom has disappeared under a plethora of notices from BOW & she's now turned her beady on on the ladies toilets, if it carry's on I shall start using the gents.
I hope everyone has a good day.
