O opened many isa's this week for customers. If customer didnt want to go through discussion document to discuss other accounts then that was fine. just opened the isa for them! no hard sell at all!!
Radish if u actually got over your self then if you visited the branch im sure you would be greeted with very professional people interested in helping you and not want to just sell!!!! So it looks liek you are the one who has lost out but not opening the barclays isA!!0 -

what a fool! 20 minutes wait to get the best isa on the market, why should you expect to walk in without a pre-booked appointment and be seen straight away, those people in the branch were trying their best to help!
If you cant get your point across without insulting then clearly you lack some form of intelligence
Just because your opinion is of a different one of mine, there is no need to insult !!!
If I choose to enter a bank and that bank cannot accommodate in what i call a reasonable time ie 5-10 mins , then I am not prepared to wait , simple , you may have time on your hands I dont , i was told to walk into the bank by Barclays
They lost my money , i went elsewhere no big deal ,
This thread is about a product and views requested on that product , i did that ,Absolutely, it is a shame none customers seem to expect to be top of the list. Sorry, but we also have our own customers who actually had the courtesy to make an appointment!
What is this a Barclays re-union :rotfl:
" None customers " , don’t make me laugh , you think Barclays or any other bank for that matter care about you more than someone who walks in off the street wanting to place money into their vault ,
So others reading this ,
If you want a Barclays ISA , be prepared to
1; Make a prior appointment to open a simple ISA account
2.To be sold other products, insurance etc,
3.To ask who you already bank with, and other financial questions
Thats my opinion of course , made in a none insulting manner0 -

I dont see what you are getting at here. People who have actually bothered to make an appointment to see me are much higher on my agenda than a person walking in off the street demanding to be seen to within 5-10 mins. 'Reasonable time' pfft.Personal Banker at Barclays0 -
I opened my Golden ISA on Monday afternoon at a pre booked time.
It took about 10 minutes to open and the cheque was cashed 2 days later.
The place was packed with people who expected to walk in and open one which made me laugh as I went to the front of the line.
Good work Barclays now just up the rate....LOLIt's far better to be penny wise than pound foolish.

1. yes make an appointment or be prepared to wait a short time, it is a market leading rate so why wouldn't it be a popular choice. even more so now than before it is important that people are maximising what their money does for them.
2. why not have an open mind and listen to the advisor. you may be able to make savings on other products such as insurances, there is no obligation, after all you are opening the isa as you want your money to work as hard as it can for you.
3. i think if a bank opening an account for you did not ask about your existing banking arrangements and other financial questions they would not be doing their job properly, how can they help if they don't know the full picture?
sorry if you felt insulted but my opinion is that your post made you sound foolish by not being prepared to wait a a short time to open an account.0 -

You say demanding , who is demanding ,not me
1,I called Barclays, and was told to call in , no appointment required.
2.I called in and was told sorry , approx a 20+ minute wait
3.I said thankyou, but no thankyou, as I could not wait that long
5.If I was told on the phone to make appointment, then I would have.
Also other ISA providers have an “Online application” for new customers , Barclays don’t !!!

Thankyou for your apology.
We can all make our point/opinion, as we are all entitled to that ,and what maybe fine for some may not be for others , so for those who decide its not for them , don’t brand them of being a fool or foolish merely because they do not go along with your views or opinions , that’s unfair !!!
I also do disagree with the “ 3rd degree” from Barclays , when all I want is to open a simple ISA account.
However I respect your opinions bellagio and StAnToN
If we all respect each others opinions in adult manner the purpose of this thread will go a lot smoother and better for all.
I think we will have to agree to disagree on this gents, and let others read this and make their own minds up , I have given my opinion , and I will now leave it at that ,.

Thank you SavySaver
I have been in to my Branch and got a very cool reaction with staff not knowing what they were doing. The earliest appointment I could get was 10 days time. far from acceptable. it would require both myself and my wife to go in to conduct simple business. whats wrong with the application process than many other firms use PAPER!!!!0 -

I would have to agree with you, ten days does seem a bit far fetched. I would try to visit one of the 'bigger' branches if it is not too far away from your home/workplace as there will be much more availability!Personal Banker at Barclays0 -
I opened my Golden ISA this morning.
I was the first one into the branch this morning and got seen straight away, I'm not a previous customer of Barclay's, so the set up took a little longer but i was out again within 20 minutes, with an account number and some money deposited.
The chap didn't offer me any other products even though i told him i was a home owner, which reading some of the posts on here i am suprised about!
So far so good, we'll wait and see how long it takes for all the documents to arrive...MortgageMay 2014 - £255,000.00Jan 2015 - £251.589.00O/P To Date £194.040
