Could be. Certainly didn't look like there was enough metal in it to make a Cyberman...No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Thank you for your enquiry to Consumer Direct dated 12/3/09. Your reference number for this case is NE****** and should be quoted in all further correspondence regarding this case.
Based on the information supplied within your email the key facts of the case appear to be as follows: You purchased a used car from a private seller via Ebay. The car was described as been mechanically sound, with no knocks or rattles and has been well maintained. You have developed faults with the steering rack, drive shafts, CV joints, there is damage to the windscreen and front lights. You have spoken to the seller who has offered to refund £80.
You have a contract with the seller which is covered by the Sale of Goods Act 1979. When you purchase goods from a private seller you get rights that the goods are as described. If these goods are not as described then you would be entitled to one of the three things:
The goods as described,
The difference in cost between what was described and what you were supplied with, or
A refund
The next step would be to send the seller a letter by recorded delivery of which you keep a copy stating this and see how they respond. I have attached a template letter which may be of use to you.
If you require any further advice or information about this case, please do not hesitate to contact Consumer Direct on 08454 04 05 06 quoting the case reference number.
Thank you for your enquiry.

I disagree. Dean is completely wrong.0 -

If a Cyberman had bought this on eBay, there wouldn't have been any messing about with £80 repayments-the seller would have been 'deleted' about 10 seconds after he arrived to collect it!No free lunch, and no free laptop0

OP, cancel tomorrow's MOT... that's just throwing more money away.0

Hi
I haven't read every post - too many, but hope I'm not repeating what's been said too often:
If the car was that dirty, why wern't you suspicious. I'd have asked for them to get it washed and then come back.
It says dented and its an ex cop car - alarm bells should ring.
Cars do suddenly develop problems don't they? I know sometimes you notice something a bit different about your car, the way it drives or a noise change before the part 'breaks', but the problem has to start sometime doesn't it? Maybe you were just unlucky!
I would have been wary on the ebay listing as there were NO front end photos, I would have asked for some to be posted before bidding.
I don't think you have a leg to stand on personally.0 -
I suspect the OP has backed off as she knew she didn't have a leg to stand on.
Great fun while it lasted though.0 -
I hate the not knowing.....Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!0
