• "Are there any other additional costs when using CHEAPESTCHAT?
The prices on our CHEAPESTCHAT access number are fully-inclusive. A connection fee of 4p applies on every call and is charged when the call abroad is connected."

The call checker states that there are no connection charges when using CheapestChat - its FAQ specifically states that there is actually a 4p charge.

Hence please update the comment on the callchecker page.

I think you missed more of the smallprint on their website:
A connection fee of between 4p - 10p applies on every call - depending on destination. Please contact us by email at info@cheapestchat.com for full connection fee details. All rates are correct as of 16 July 2009 & may be subject to change without prior notice.
Suddenly, their rates don't look quite so competetive.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Hiya! I'm new on here and after spending hrs reading all these posts, i wondered if somebody can help me? I have been phoning a mobile in Afghanistan from my pay monthly orange mobile....I only realised yesterday that it's been costing me £1 a minute!! I also have VM home phone, but when looking at the various sites from the callchecker Afghan isn't on all of them! So i thought maybe someone has had personal experience and could advise me?

I phoned orange and for £2.50 per month i can reduce the price per min to 75p...not a great saving but something! They don't have Afghan listed....if I wanted to call India or Pakistan it can be 20p per min!!

Thank you1

If you use the International Call Checker on this site, this will give you the best rates. Just a brief look showed Primus Saver at 10p per minute to call a mobile. Did not delve into calling from mobiles, think you will just have to have a look and then check each phone company for the best rates if mobiles are not listed.

I use sipgate.co.uk and happy so far with it!

This is actually for my elderly mother ringing family in Tanzania and Sweden so VOIP is out of the question.

Using the International phonecall checker I see that without subscription you make an initial call then your own number. I was thinking I could put the initial number into a memory button then she can ring the required numbers?

TIA

But she is with Virgin Media who charge more to call non geographical numbers.

They would charge 11p connection and 12p a minute to call a 10p 0871 access number.

You might need to see what your supplier charges to call the access numbers. The rates shown in the checker are from BT.

Also have a look at www.localphone.com where they will provide a local uk number that translates direct into the intl destination number.

Just checked the uk call checker to see who is the cheapest and although there is an 0845 option there is none for 0844 - are these the same price calls? If not, who is the cheapest to call these type of numbers? I have looked on saynotto0870 and no alternative number.

Thanks
