Hi all,
I thought I would share this with you. I bought a LadyCare from Avon which promises to help relieve period pain through wearing this big magnet over your pelvic area. Well, despite being somewhat sceptical it is a bloody miracle. Is it all in the head? Who cares?? I have had lots of 'womens' problems for years and these result in me having a lot of period type cramps for the entire month on and off. I initially bought this to releive my period pains, after using it for about 3 months I found the cramps were pretty minimal whereas before I would be doubled up in agony for a couple of days.
In the last month I have found that my pains were getting worse during the 3 weeks off my periods because I get a lot of ovarian cysts and I have started using the Lady Care inbetween - the pains are now completely gone and I have been using it for 3 days. I am just going to wear it all the time until I feel I do not need it so much. You have to wonder if it is all in your head but the way I see it, if it was then thinking about it would bring the pains back surely and this does not happen for me.
It works in the way of magnets and it costs £10 at the moment instead of £15 but as I was buying a lot of painkillers it has saved me money already. I cannot find any details about it on the Avon website at all, sorry, so you might want to request a brochure from them and you'll find it on page 139 of brochure 5/2006. My friend who had terrible problems and even was iron deficiant through heavy periods said it has worked wonders on her and she feels better than ever.
Does it work? You decide!! I had to share it with you because I thought it has been a wonder for me and there must be lots of women who do not know about it. I hope this link helps at least one woman out there suffering with this.

I've had to go back on the mini-pill because of mid-cycle pain. Had them for over 10 years now. I would love to give this a try, will have to give my local Avon lady a call to avoid paying postage thoughEllie

Good luck with it Ellie,
Yes, I had the same and put up with it and just took painkiller. It does take a couple of months to start working but my period is due today/tomorrow and no pain at all now whereas before I would be in agony for about 5 days. I can't beleive the difference in the blood loss that has been reduced as well - that really surprised me. I would have quite a lot at nights and now, not very much at all. Nothing else in my lifestyle has changed, I take the combined pill because of all the problems with my cysts, it worked last time but not so much this and I still get a lot of pain - well used to. Maybe this has sorted these problems out as well, who knows. It has a money back guarentee so nothing to lose if it does not work. I hope it works well for you.0 -
I have now ordered this from Boots - costs £14.99 (might as well make some points and a £5 No. 7 voucher out of it, eh?). The PIP code is 289-0598, any pharmacy can order it for you with this code, apparently.
Hope it works for me!

Good luck to you all with this; I'm having a hysterectomy in May so not enough time to see if this would work for me.The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. Has anyone any advice for my 15 year old who has bad cramps (will order ladycare) but also suffers from nausea and vomitting on the first day.
She has had a few things from the doctors but none seem to work and I am reluctant to put her on the pill, at such a young age, as I had breast cancer a couple of years ago. I myself never had a problem with my periods apart from a bit of cramp occasionally.Growing old is manditory, Growing up is optional! :j0 -

i was put on the pill at 14 (various reasons - one being 9 day long periods - horrible!) - i didn't have any other risk factors - i don't smoke or drink much, no family history of cancer. it's a risk/benefit analysis that your GP will know more about, but having been on the pill for over a decade, i was getting nervous about side-effects - i'm now on a "3rd generation" pill that is much much lower risk than anything in the past. i completely understand your reluctance (my mum keeps telling me to come off or i'll get blood clots) - but you may find that some of the most recently developed pills aren't such a danger.:happyhear0 -
There's a £5 off voucher for Avon posted elsewhere, just ordered my LadyCare.
I've got my Mefenamic Acid (painkillers) and heat patches ready for this month's period. Maybe I won't have to use them anymore, here's hoping!0 -

Has the doctor prescribed mefenamic acid under the name Ponstan or Ponstel? If she starts taking this regularly a couple of days before she starts and carries on throughout, it should get rid of the worst pain. It's important though to prevent the cramps starting because they're very hard to stop once they've got going. The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal.
