In the end i didnt end up maing some bags:cool: i had bought some things ages ago that i was going to re-cover in welsh blankets, so yesturday i re-covered a 1960's wicker sewing box, never anything like that before so on the whole it is ok. but some finer finishing points could have been better, then when i was lining the inside, i run out of ribbon ( for the edging) so ordered some more last night.. I allway like to use the wast of india cotton ribbon, its really nice cotton woven type ribbon...so as soon as the ribbon arrives i can finish it off

should have done a before and after pic, but if i remember i will take some pics to show you

also got a brass/wooden log box with a padded lid to re-cover too

    Oooooohhhh pics please!

Oh, the irony. I have never had a shortage of eggs till last season, and today i was approached by a london lux food retail outlet to ask if i would consider selling my eggs through them.....i felt like asking, waht, all three of them? The very day i said i didn't know whether i cold be bothered to run the cooker for eggs this year, rofl.

Now, this poses a dilemma. To that rather than gate sales i have to have stamps and salmonella vaccines, anyone know the cost of all that? If its worth it then perhaps i spld think about buying s e stock in. Losing the opportunity for a retail slot seems rather silly, even if it involves some outlay....I would be a the brand of london girl gone small holding native i guess...piffle.

when my friend in surrey set up free range fresh eggs i must admit she had to jump through hoops to get the paperwork needed plus she had to provide X amount of eggs..... proved impossible on the scale she could work with ease... she got all the regs covered to be organic etc..but set up a little gate farm shop/shed and sells many many eggs without the pressure. when she runs out they have to come back...she also sells craft stuff, plants and xmas trees etc but only when she gets them as and when. she does well too...
edit..the jumping through hoops was re an enquiry from a high profile outlet too.

Yes, its not too much of a drama, but io think the cost makes it unviable. I was just saying on another thread where i was asking for advice, the back of envelope calcs with guestimated costs make it clear it would be foolish. It would all be different if i were using it as a foot in the door for trying to launch a brand (day dreamers jam, anyone?) but i am not up to launching a business these days, i just hate turning down opportunity!

Are you sure you want to take this on while you have so much else happening, lir?

If you are considering it (I think you may have past experience of Defra ;)) then may I introduce you to your reading for the evening
I'd start with this one though :)
Of course, if they want a fairly guaranteed number all year round you'd also have to invest in all the lamps etc. to keep the little layers happily at work through the short days.
I think you'd get more enjoyment from doing it on a scale where you call the shots more yourself before deciding whether you want to dive into a "venture"
