getting a bit worried about this thing that is going on in the middle east, something about the shipping lane, and potentially it could get closed,
If i remember rightly something like this happened in the 70's and fuel rocketed in price, i can allways remember my father huffing and puffing at the price rising..
We use alot of diesel every week with work, and margins are getting tighter and tighter... and the never ending increases of various insurances etc:mad:
Well done alfie on the fleabay sales:T I actually listed some things on sunday ,well a few scarves:rotfl:,well its a start.:D
choille, sorry you are still dizzy, hopefully the doc can sort it out once and for all on thursday
weather is bloooody awfull here, grey wet damp misty, would rather it frosty than this....lol... and thats coming from someone who hates the cold...
got a mortgage adviser coming out to us on wednesday, i want to know once and for all EXACTLY what the situation is with us trying to get a mortgage on a property....( problem is we allready have a mortgage) so will see what our options are, and see what we could get if we were mortgage free, might be an option to use the money we have saved to pay off our mortgage, and then try and save for a deposit .
do you know what type of deposit do the mortgage lenders need these days? 20%?
Just getting soooooooooooooo fed up now....and frustrated... I am not as fit as i used to be, my energy levels have gone to zilch, and i am afraid, if/when i do get a place i am not going to be able to cope/manage it:o
One good thing i havent had an energy drink for over a week:T( used to drink loads in a day)
Ctc, well...managing on zero energy happens to be my speciality:D. Hopefully the olmost purchase has focused your mind on what you would and wounldn't want to do with a place.0 -

I have learned alot from the near misses so to speak, so in my view it wasnt a waste of time, looking, putting in offers etc, as each property/land i have looked into i have learned something valueble.
I know i come across a bit 'dizzy' in my thoughts and ideas, but i think out loud on this forum..so to speak...
I must admit on times i forget how far i have come, when i first admitted my daydream we were grossley in debt...so before i could save, we had to sort that out... ok our mortgage was bumped up to more than double, to give us a bit of breathing space to deal with other debts etc, but we managed it... so then we could start saving....
Yes i have had blips where the money has gone elsewhere, and i have caved in and bought expensive things for the kids and hubby, but i allways said my family would not notice i am saving ( ok they might hear about it all the time...lol..) as in they would not go without etc...
so where i am now finanically is a AMAZING..... but its not enough by a long, long, long way:o
so this is where logical thinking/steps have got to come into it... and this is where i am begining to lose the plot, as i can see i need to up my game, and buy a really cheap property, sit on it and then sell, or do i take a step backwards ( savingswise) and pay off our mortgage, and start saving again, so then we would be able to get a personal mortgage?
the latter is more of the logical thing to do... but this is where the dizzy/undecisiveness comes in, as it would be s@ds law. I pay our mortgage off this week, and something comes on the market next week that would have been ideal, and we could have afforde d it:rotfl:
So this is why i am seeing a mortage adviser on wednesday to get some proper advice. plus we have seen another property that is going to auction in 6 weeks, which again is just outside our reach:oWork to live= not live to work0 -

Your house has 'supermarket blight' at the moment. In the end, with landscaping, the supermarket might not be as bad as you think it will be, or it might even be a selling point for some people, or the developers may then focus on the small group of houses and make an offer you can't refuse....so selling may not be a good way forward just now.
But what about renting it out? Could the house be transferred to a buy to let mortgage, leaving you free to buy another for your own use? I know you've said in the past that some works need doing to the house, and maybe they would be best done as a business expense, so you could offset the cost against tax.;)
The biggest risk of such a plan is void periods, bad tenants etc. You know best about the prospects of letting in your area, but those are serious things you'd have to consider.0 -
Dave's idea about going BTL is worth asking about, CTC. I know nothing about current mortgages available but that seems to be one option people are taking up if their circumstances suit.
Meanwhile, we're getting the EAs contacting us to go back on the market. I'm really not sure what to do - go back on the market or wait to see what happens.
There's so much uncertainty in the property market at the moment that, despite all the extremist views of bulls & bears which you can read on countless threads & in articles, I don't think anyone knows & I get the feeling that it will take very little for it all to suddenly go completely either one way or the other.
Weather is really mucky here today. Ponies look like drowned rats but it doesn't make them lift their noses from the grass:D

Ours are permanently out on vet's instructions. Older boy gets a bit wheezy if enclosed...... & they are mountain/moorland ponies made to withstand much worse than we usually get0 -

My old mare has very slight respiratory issues....she is the oldest jorse i have met in person, she is entitled to have a cough:D. But our barn is open on one side and adjoined to a barn open on the other other side...so really well ventilated:D. Most horses arr tough enough for southern weather...only you cannot convince all of them of that:D:D. Wonderful to have a vet who has some common sense though. So few recognise the importance of dr green above all else. One of the horses here never wears a rug, much to the consternation of the neighbours, and only two have one on today..the very old mare, and special girl....who is v. Big but also thinks she is a delicate flower:rotfl:0 -

It's many years now since they were stabled at all.
As to rugs, they'd think we were up to something verrrry suspicious, like trying to kidnap them, if we came anywhere near them with a rug
They can get shelter if they want but, as with most, they usually prefer to do that when the sun & flies turn out. Snow, wind & rain you'll find them out in the open ......... eating :cool:0 -

The scrap metal is annoying me today.
Is it worth bundling it up in the car and driving it to nearest dealers? Its stuff like corrugated iron and barbed wire maninly. There is stuff that will not fit in the car though too, bits of old gates etc. more than enough top fill a flat back. There is a guy advertisng who will remove it, but obviously he charges. It grates to give it away....but then i would be shot of it which would feel very, very good.
What would you all do?0
