For Choille and anyone else interested, you can sell on Facebook if there is a buy/sell/swap page for your area. Choille there is a facebook page called Inverness Buy, Swap, Sell where you can list photos of stuff you want to sell and folk get in touch via private messages. Am thinking of listing OH's mess dress from when he was in the army. It cost us over £800 to buy brand new and never got worn! So rather than list it on ebay and get offered silly money for it am going to take some decent photos and list it on there and ask for £500. There is hopefully someone out there who would want it!
Do you know here in inverness one side of the city has had blizzards and my side of the city has nothing at all! I just know that the weather will turn tomorrow cos i am due back at work on wednesday so knowing my luck the road to dingwall will be treacherous! It was last year and the year before so I have a feeling it will be a hat-trick of snowy roads!
Choille - yes i think i know the house you are talking about. And now I know its a wisteria!!!! I have been wistfully looking at open fireplaces and wood burning stoves. We have had some power cuts with the dodgy weather (including hurricane bawbag . whoever thought of that name was spot on!) and at least with a wood burner we would have heat, a small amount of light, and something to make a cuppa on! OH did go out and buy a small gas heater, and we have a camping stove and he got storm candles but i really would like a wood burner, at least if all the power went out we could camp out in the living room and be toasty warm! I must get someting to put the storm candles in though ... really need to get more ... january sales here i come lol.
Well the housework took second place to films today ... really need to get motivated tomorrow! Must shift A$$!!!!!

Well there's a lovely stov eshop in Dingwall nearish LIDLs up the close. It's expensive stuff though. We have an old one of mine in the caravan & it was a gift that someone made for me nearly 30 years ago. It's brilliant & I can have a kettle/pan on it too so extra cheap. It is where we get to heat our water.
Good luck with the uniform selling. I'm gonna have a look at that website. Cheers.
I also need to get ma finger oot - turning sloth-like.
I didn't know the hurricane was called bawbag.......:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Posted it elsewhere, but it turns out that my wet walk along the river on New Year's Day wasn't such a washout after all.
Before being deluged, I read a notice, which I Googled yesterday, only to find that a lot of the river is fishable via a very reasonable voucher scheme.
It gets better though, because part of it is owned by someone we do business with and supply a few eggs to (when we have any!:o) It isn't their main line of business, or even a third string to the bow, so I don't think this is general knowlege here....well, it's either that or everyone's keeping quiet! :rotfl:
Anyway, it looks like I can be a Good Boy after all, and I'm sure we can work something out; perhaps even an eggstra special deal.
Now all I need is the time.....oh, and something other than a telescopic rod that goes inside one's trousers or rucksack!:rotfl:

Bleary eyed after listening to the wind howl all night, but the chooks coop didnt move and no damage that I can see.
Alf, we get lightning strikes that can fry our telecoms. With hail storms often being thundery as well, we tend to disconnect the router/modem, as well as unplug all computers. It was only a few weeks back that our telephone socket was fried, luckily there was nothing attached. It wouldnt matter so much but for us needing the comms for buying/selling.
Bonsibabe, our local buy/sell/swap page is still just a gleam. There are facebook pages selling, aided by social networking, but thats not for me. As for the woodburner, best thing we did installing one. Few weeks back we bought a box of old brass candlesticks that we're keeping instead of selling. When power cuts look likely the lounge is toasty warm and candle lit..lovely!!
CTC, 20 a week minimum is the aim, we'll prob do more. Got 34 listed atm. With that and the car booting it should bring in enough pennies to be worthwhile and its a sideline that we can run from home.0 -
The weather here is horrific  it has already brought down a very old tree belonging to the people across the road which is heart breaking to seeTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0

Down on the chook run, they are wading about a bit and, generally speaking, it looks like flooding will be more of a problem here than the wind. That looks set to be with us for a few more days, but less rain forecast after this morning, so maybe we'll just about get away with it.
My sympathies for those of you 'Oop norf.' Looks bad.
Oh, another pheasant on the door handle today. Word must be getting around....:o0 -
What a treat. I'm staying in London at my sister-and-brother-in-laws', OH has taken the babies out for a constitutional (he loves to walk, whatever the weather and they need a nap) and my 5yo is having some downtime with his beloved cousin, so I'm getting an hour's peace which is classed as babysitting so I'll be able to go to M&S is Muswell Hill after for some new knickers! What a wild life I lead :rotfl:
I've only read the last page - is that your horse, alfie? Handsome beast! Like the look of your colour scheme too. Is it a green? Will have to have a closer look. I can't believe how slow the internet here - worse than Cardigan.
And it's blowing a gale too.0
