DD thinks not, but she doesn't have a long experience of commuting on it; just a few years. This is the highest I've seen it since I've been here.

She's not working tomorrow, so it won't affect her if they close, and there's always the bus from the front gate if all else fails. :)

    :D Useful.
The line was often closed due to flooding &, in a couple of places, where the river regularly undermined the rails causing problems but they've probably made improvements over recent years. It caused total chaos in the early 2000s.

There have been improvements between here & Exeter. Not sure about the other half. I suppose there's only one way they can be tested! ;)

I'm watching a little man in front of a weather forecast chart who is trying to tell me the wind "will be nothing like it was last night".
I'm listening to the wind whooshing up the valley, rattling slates & doors, & thinking "Who are you trying to kid?" :rotfl:

Checked the gaps in the copse. A small run of fencing has been flattened - I think the ponies may have decided the grass (not that there is any under the trees) was greener on the other side. Either that or they got blown through it. :D No real harm done. We'll probably just remove that section - the posts had obviously rotted, anyway. :o

How are things weatherwise with everyone else now?

Calm before another storm. Forecast very wet and windy again tonight :(
Our grass paths are sodden, we're on limestone but the water table is full and there's lying water around. Might get some local flooding if we get another couple of inches of rain that cant run off fast enough.

Back to the early morning job wrapping parcels to send out. And yet another for the States, will have to make listings even more US friendly!

    hello all...

im sat by my fire hugging a hot water bottle :D
and as if someone flicked a switch, the calm of the day suddenly has turned into the most almighty gale ... EVERYTHING IS A ROCKIN !!

actually it was a cold but reasonable day today. had a friend call in for a quick chat and left 3 HOURS later...:rotfl:
i can hand on heart say i have done S*D all today..:D
yesterday i went to put hay out for the hoss's and decided to juggle the fields at thier disposal. ive shut off the nice "mown" field, opened up the bottom 2 for them and opened gates that lead to the field shelters . it was like musical gates ..:D even i got confused..:rotfl: the corral is central with 4 gates off it so any field leads to the shelter within the corral....confused ?? :rotfl::rotfl: theres also a shelter in one of the bottom fields... SO they have 3 fields to roam in and 2 are shut off. there is a deep hedged ditch running across the centre of the land and it was full. where it was supposed to go under the walk between 2 fields it was overflowing into the gate entrance and was like a river = more mud so i donned waders [3ft + D]and tried to unblock the pipe ....:( not a hope so after my little dog leaping into the water to follow me,shaking himself/splashing in and out i looked ,well.......... lets say id have given wurzel gummidge a run for his money !!:rotfl:
SO today i am feeling the result of my efforts....:D

Hiya RAS - Happy New Year.

It's not stopped raining for a week & the hail & lightening storms seem to herald the gales, but we've had worse the t'other week.
Hurracaine Bawbag as Bonisbabe told us is aptly named - Just don't want to see th eye of the storm.............
The ground is a slidey bog which is dangerous going about but just sitting in really doing the boring paperwork stuff - nowt much else for it. It's gonna take weeks to dry out once it decides to stop raining.

    How's your weather doing?

I think we're going to be doing a bit of your field juggling, alfie.
The field shelter that the ponies use has been damaged by the wind & needs to come down before it falls down. I think we'll have to move the ponies off the hill tomorrow. Trouble is the forecast for overnight is giving 60mph again - so it's fingers crossed the old shelter holds &/or the ponies don't decide to use it _pale_

@rhiwfield - That bit of water that divides me from you is meant to get a battering tonight. Hope all will be OK on your side, too.
