Choille we drove up to Perth yesterday and back down today and it seemed much calmer up in Perth compared to the West Central Belt.
As others have mentioned we noticed a lot of trees and plants in flower that should not be until much later in the year, it is a real worry if the weather takes a really sharp turn and freezes.
At the moment our front garden looks a bit like a giant pond :eek:Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Well dingwall and inverness were blawing well and piddling down all day ... one of the drains in our car park at work in dingwall is full to the brim so am expecting a mini swimming pool in the car park tomorrow morning when i go to work!
High winds warnings have been up all day on the kessock bridge and are expected to be the same tomorrow. As long as it doesn't get any worse I'm not too fussedalthough I didn't like it when tore roundabout got flooded ... twas a wee bit dicey!

for my sins i am watching " mamma mia " on tv [ i think i was given the dvd last xmas but never saw it ??] and ,dare i admit it,i found myself singing to myself !! on that rather out of tune note...im off to bed @ 10 as i HAVE to get up early to tart myself up and the house a bit before the land agent gets here !!!
he's new and that last one was an idjit...so have to try and wangle a few "grade 2" necesary repairs ......
sees you all tomorow...take care in this weather and i wish you all a cosy tucked up in bed night..0 -
It's blowing a gale now did over night but it isn't as bad as it looks in the middle belt I think. We've had such a rubbish Summer, Autumn apart from a few really hot, weird bits that the ground is awash - but here ther's a slope in the main so we are lucky but i would think others are flooded out.
Last year we had a real long deep freeze I only lost a couple of tenderish shrubs - I think it's the wind with low temps that does the most damage everything seems seems quit eacclimatised - whatever that is now! BUT things are in bud that shouldn't be. Talking of which; my money plant (That ain;t in the slightest bit lucky) is flowering. Now I have had one for decades & this is the first time it's ever flowered. Lost most of my house plants apart from that last year in the shed - frozen & some I'd had for decades. The Money Plant is in the van with us!
We had a lot of mouse droppings in the shed so OH got some mouse traps that you don't bait. They were silly cheap, £2.50 for two. One vanaished! We've caught four mice in the last two days with the remaining one - It sure works.0 -
Hope all goes well Alfie tomorrow.
Bonisbabe - Dingwall does seem to cop the water thing - flooded a couple of years ago. If it freezes the place is a skating rink for months - it seems to last there for a long time.
Take care & just don't risk it if it's bad - work can wait.0 -
Daisy laying again :j:j:j
Holly isnt0 -
Give Holly time she is building up to it :rotfl:
Finally a dry clear day today :j however the garden is completely flooded which is horrid to see. I am going to have a good walk round today and fix some of the damage and move some unwelcome items from the surroundings. Also going to get the hedge cuttings done today as I have been lapse about getting it doneTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Rummer - It's so sad especially after all your work - I do the raised bed thing because of the wet, but elsewhere it's no good. But we are on a slope which does have advantages sometimes.
Over to the East today that'll be interesting. Not much kip last night again with the wind & hail - feel like I'm suffering sleep deprivation & slightly giddy with it!
Great the hens are laying - brilliant stuff. Mine just got a feed of tagliateli left over from last night - they're playing Tug 'o war with it.....0 -

Our Vorwerks have just begun laying, somewhat tentatively, but it's a start.
Missed my first ever Panto rehearsal last night, so now it's official, I don't know what day of the week it is.
Rummer, plants usually recover OK from being temporarily waterlogged if they aren't frozen soon afterwards.0 -
We are at the bottom of a gentle slope and the front garden is poorly drained so we often end up with a small lake out the front. The only things that really cope are heathers and grasses and our garden always looks rubbish compared to the others in the street
No pennies to improve the drainage situation and the grass out the front on closer inspection is really just moss and those horrid creepy buttercups (did I ever mention how much I hate them :rotfl:). Even in the summer the ground out there is damp and unpleasant.
Choille we have gone for the raised bed option near the bog in the side garden. After a few years of trying to make the bog workable we have given up graciously and now have it as a wildlife area. I am however going to battle the nettle patch at the bottom of the garden so that I can use my cold frame this year. What is the best way to kill them without damaging the other things around?
