We have made good progress this miserable Summer despite the weather, but we are skint - although we just ordered a winda for drop down gable as we can't do the roof sheeting until that's in place - well we could but wouldn't be a good job to go over the tin to put winda in. All the windas we've got from a brilliant company that makes them to our spec.

A winda? What's that? My curiosity is piqued! :)

I do feel I have enough animals - often I think I would be far better off not having any apart from the cats & just a few hens.

There's a little small holding where we go for our shop & it's on the outskirts of town there & each time we drive past we marvel at how organised it is & what new animals he's got. He has now got a couple of the mini Shetlands. But it does look over crowded with too many sheep & stuff. There's rough ground next to him & he almost needs to try & get that so he could rest his ground really.

We pass a farm & there's one Shetland pony on its own in a field & it just stands in its dark, shadowed field looking so miserable. I don't know why he doesn't put it in with the sheep at least - unless its a kicker, but it sure looks like it needs company.

put a kicker out with bigger ponies and enough space....they settle usually. I hate seeing them alone. Some traveller's near us on a permanant have a very young cob tethered. Its immacualtely, almost faultlessly taken care of...poo cleared regularly, always hay and water for it....but its so lonely, I find it very sad.

I sometimes agree with choille, some times I feel like I just do rounds of feeding animals and dealing with poop all day long. e.g. I have to admit these hedgehogs get me down at times, because they smell and not quite ''in my routine'' yet. Roll on spring!

Hedgehogs - forgot you had those - the guy who rescued stuff had those & they are quite repellent in their habits!

Talking of travellers - we have a crowd of them appeared in a layby & someone was saying they are from Dale Farm, but really don't know if that's a rumour or not, but the amount of building materials that are getting stolen & also oil from tanks & vehicles getting their fuel sucked out of them is more than coincidence.
We had a woman appeared down here carrying a bucket reckoning she was looking to get to the shore - not this way she was told, but she got a bit uppy - she was not genuine & was down to look see - can't see the car or caravan from the road so I do believe that she was out to suss if anyone was around & what was lying around. Shouldn't be so skeptical, but ...............

Don't like to see solitary animals - they do need company.
