Heard a chicken I suspect Pet of the 77 egg hoard, up in the roof space this morning again. I'm not able to climb a ladder atm, so that's a job for dh at the weekend. Also, the mother of the chicks just reared is broody again (now, didn't I say something about that sort of hen recently?)0

Just as a follow on from the car boot box of stuff, the tea set turns out to be 1860s-1880s (probably the later end). Rock & Co and Newman & Co did a set of Welsh Costume lithographs in the 1850s which were used for many souvenirs and this is in that style. Info and dates from ceramics curator at NMGW after studying photos.
So OH then wants to see all the stuff from the box up on our old Lancashire dresser, which from her reaction is where they will stay. Spent the morning re-dressing the room with our older stuff and its like the room has time warped backwards!
Cold mizzly weather atm, just right for staying in.0 -
Alfie,
Moritz Zdekauer mark Link also to MZ website, which mark do you think it corresponds to - we're inclined to go with 1922-45? 2 pieces also have numbers/date "1985" impressed, replacements?
Reims glass marks
No other marks to photo
Cheers
well done on the welsh set . could be worth a bit if that old.

Shame about your two birds alfie.:( As lir says, at least it wasn't a massacre, but maybe that's Mr/Mrs Fox doing some forward-planning, so....well, you don't need me, a mere newbie, to state the obvious.
It's been a bit of a hen day for us too, beginning with a visit to the vet to see if one of the newer Welsummers might have to be Sunday lunch.:o She's become somewhat lame, and our vet, Marcella, is a hen expert, and also the owner of a lame hen herself. (Coincidentally, she's also on P28 of the Poultry section in Country Smallholding this month, examining a hen!)
Anyway, the good news is that there's no dislocation or anything, just a weakness, and she's otherwise fine, so we don't have to eat one of our better egg-layers after all.
In other news, we have spent a couple of days re-organising the nursery and planting out veg, so things are looking less frayed around the edges...but only slightly; still nothing like rhiwfield's garden!0 -

Sorry about your two hens Alfie - That's so sad.
I've had to splint a chick's toe as it was all a bit curled in. I tried putting a hobble on as one leg seemed splayed, but it cheeped merry Hell & kept falling over, so delicately took the hobble off ( masking tape!) Seems to be better at walking with its toe splinted, so that's enough orthopedics for the poor wee bundle of fluff for one evening.
I have an ancient lame hen - Mrs Hopperty. Banannas & their skins seem to help, but she's getting worse especially when the weather's wet.
Very midgey between showers today & I ache & limp like Mrs Hopperty too. Managed to bash some surprisingly huge nails into glued beam thing we're making for the house - rather liked taking my agnst & temper out on it!
Sounds like you've overdone things Alfie - need to rest up.0
