    Evening all

It has been scorching here too bonsibabe :D-thank heavens for the tree at the foot of my neighbours garden -it provides a little shade!
I have been out this evening and given everything a good soaking ready for the onslaught of the sun tomorrow ;)
ooohhhhh On the pea front -that wooden trough hubby got me -where I poked about 80 peas in -there are only about 6 left to peep through -the rest have made it :j....between them and the others that I started earlier -I "should" be ok for peas this year -pinkies crossed :p
Well -i wasn't expecting to have anything to add to the fund this early on in the month as all my savings are pretty much from house keeping and that has allready been counted -but hubby had another golf competition today ...went in the club house and on the slot machine and came out with €270 profit :T.... so he has kept enough to cover his mess bill and split the rest with me -so I have an extra €110 to put away :j..

I keep looking at house for sale -shouldn't really as we won't buy anything yet as it would have to be let out and thats sometimes a minefield -as we know with the house we let out at the moment... but I can't resist looking and drooling:rotfl:-still it keeps me foccused. I think living in army accomodation has been great as it has given me things that I always liked -and know realise - I HATE :o... ..
oohhh Bonsibabe -we have one of those rotary driers that ratchet up n down here-they are a god send -I can't really reach up well -well not without suffering... hope they provide you with one...
anyway Im off to my bed ...have a great week everyone,.

I must say I'm finding this weather a bit of a challenge.

At home here in the rental, DD2 was assembling her art project on Sunday, spreading about 20 large MDF panels all over the lawn. These got so hot, the grass has turned brown where they were placed! Luckily, like the rest of the garden the lawn's none too special, so it will grow back OK by the time we leave.....hopefully.

At the front, my large shrubs are all in pots, waiting for their new home, and as this faces due south, they need watering twice daily.

Then there's the old nursery garden ten minutes walk away, which also bakes in the sun at this time of year. Every single thing there is in a pot, and there's hundreds! Again, two trips a day for some of the stock there, though it sometimes has to make do with one.

I'm not complaining, but it would be good for the wildlife, and progress on my tax return, if we could have a good downpour
    in the next few days.

It can come at night if it likes!

  • Hi everyone

I've just discovered this thread after being directed to it via mse o/s!

I live in a 2 bed town house with a tiny garden with o/h, 2 cats and 2 rabbits, absolutely hate it!

We are lucky enough to have an allotment but they won't allow us to keep chickens and our garden is too small which is quite dissapointing.

We would love a house in the country with a couple of acres.....no dream fund set up yet due to o/h not working but we are trying to clear our existing mortgage as quick as we can.

Is everyone staying put in their existing houses until they have enough money to get their dream property or are you up for moving into the in between house ie bit more house and garden space!?

Our mortgage is quite small so seems the best thing to stay put but god only knows how long it will take us to get out and move!

Hi suzynick..i really do need to say sorry for such a rude welcome to the thread:cool: but i was all in a tizz with the new arrivals...lol..

so far 5 have hatched out.... its hard work just staring into the incubator watching for new little cracks:rotfl:

i just want to move to my ideal smallholding straightaway...lol... but there is a small hick-up called MONEY!!!!! lol..

at my age i honestly dont want to move a few times, flip i had enough moving round with my parents,

in reality as the others have said maybe aim for something that is going to be within our reach, but i know deep down i still wouldnt be contented...

up until a few months ago.... hubby had allways dismissed us ever being able to get a smallholding, and last year i started saving, and didnt tell him, but that money was used for something else.... now this time round i have told him, and now he is more interested in our chickens than me:eek: and has really started doing his bit around the garden, which he never used to,

so one good thing i now, i am not getting him telling me to wise up we will never be able to afford it...which to be is a huge step forward.... so now its just about a little issue called money.

i am in a lucky postition which has taken us nearly 15 years to get to.. beofre now we have been up to our eyballs in debt, and its only now with the help of mse that we have sorted things out, and now can start saving .

so all my wages that i have just started drawing is now being saved...

but the best part of my saving for me is my sealed pot:T its suprising how much those pennies added up...

would really love to know waht ideas you have got to try and pay off your mortage and save etc...
