We're looking primarily in North Devon, due to OH's work commitments and we'll be taking my mother with us, she has dementia and the care and support here is so good I'd been reluctant to move too far south.
Just hope we can shift our house quickly, I'm trying not to look at anything before we get an offer but it's so tempting to daydream!!sealed pot challange #572!Garden fund - £0!!:D£0/£10k0 -
hi to everyone. Not much to report at the moment apart from I have measured my veg plot and it is approx 40 foot by 50 foot. So the next item on the plan is to level off the area and start getting the beds in. DS & DD have decided to have a bed each (!) so thats a bit less space for veg. DS is going to grow a GIANT pumpkin and DD is going to grow little pink flowers and peas (she is only 2!!)
The funds aren't increasing too much at the moment as there seems to be a problem with my ebay account as I can't list anything. Aparently ebay are sorting it, but who knows........
A bit off topic but does anyone know how and when to take cuttings from an elder tree, if at all. I am very lucky to have a mature elder in the hedge at the bottom of the garden and would love to have more.......
I think thats all for now!
Hugs to all that need it............

ooh, where abouts?? I live near Bradworthy! Looks like Dave might be fairly close too (in Devon terms, eg plymouth is close to Bude, only a couple of hours drive!)
We weren't too far away from your neck of the woods this afternoon, doing a few drive-bys of places over Hartland way......yes, I know we shouldn't until we get an offer, but we can't help ourselves.0 -

It's a while since I did any, but I think semi-ripe bits root pretty easily in some gritty soil in the shade. I can't remember if I did them that way, or with the heated sand bed. Probably both!0 -

I now have £10.15p saved. I resisted temptation to buy something and put it in the jam jar instead. Good ."The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0

tattycath, thank you for that, we are starting it all tomorrow morning and just going to keep plodding along, and hopefully the next few months will be a time of relief and sleep lol.
Went out today and i have about 10 aubergines and 10 cucumber plants starting to grow nicely. My basil is taking nicely and the mustard greens are looking good too. I have a few tomato, cherry tom, sweet peppers, and parsnips that need to be moved from their toilet rolls to the garden to try and encourage them lol.
Hope you are all well, I'm a bit burnt from spending the whole afternoon at my best friends.

Good evening to all my friends on here. Today the weather has been absolutely glorious!!! Been out tending to my lovely plants, we are up to double figures on the aubergines (may have planted too many but not too bothered!) and cucumbers, my tatties are looking lovely, going to get some more compost tomorrow to top them up. Hubby's herbs are coming along nicely, although his mint was dug up by the neighbour's bloody cat! But thats sorted as he got some chicken wire and two small posts and made a sort of net thing to go over the top of the raised bed. My salad greens are really coming on too so looking forward to making a lovely salad for me and my best mate with all the goodies I have grown!!!
Already making plans for next year. Going to buy loads of seeds and keep them for next year in a big tub that I have kept aside just for this. Then going to get a diary and write down when each should be planted so that I don't miss anything! By that time I will have my dad's old shed. I'm going to put my old kitchen table in there and use it like a potting shed and grow loads and loads of stuff.
The garden is really starting to take shape now, and I'm chuffed, although I really need to get on to the council for a proper washing line. We have one solitary pole and 3 lines coming off it which are all attached to the blooming fence! My mum's next door has a fantastic whirlygig which he never uses. It has a crank thing that means he can drop the line down to the right height to put the washing on then raise it up again. Would be perfect for me with my disability so going to go and ask the council if I can get one of those.
Hubby has an appointment at the job centre tomorrow so hopefully that will go well. I'm going to get some of my laundry mountain tackled and hopefully get some of it put away instead of all over my bed hahaha.
But for tonight I'm knitting!!! Everyone is getting at least one handmade christmas pressie this year (I hope I can manage that lol) so am practising just now and trying to make a couple of tops for me and my mate. Almost finished the back of the first one. Good thing is I'm writing it all down so that I can just repeat it for hers (thank goodness we take the same size in clothes!!!). Then back to the wool shop for more supplies! Although the kids teachers are getting hand made scarfs rather than buy loads of expensive stuff.
Hope you are all well and enjoying this lovely weather. I'm happy to say that I'm feeling better today than in ages so the sunshine and good friends has to be helping lol. Take care all and will post back later on xxxLBM - August 2008 - Debts then - £33390 - 2nd LBM - November 2009 - Debts then - £18500:mad:
