Hi all!
Sorry for not posting lately, its been a madhouse here the last couple of weeks. Financially not too great, and it looks like we may have to go bankrupt but if it means that we can sleep at night then I'm all for it!
Garden wise, I HATE seagulls lol. The blighters keep coming into the garden and trying to knock all my pots over lol. OH was going to go and buy himself an air rifle and shoot the !!!!!!s but apparently you have to warn them 3 times here before you can do that lol.
And after all the fuss, I now have 3 cucumbers and 1 aubergine growing!!! Yippee!! And DD2's tomatoes are growing nicely although none of mine are boo. But went on Freecycle this week and came home with some tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, sweet peppers and parsnips so very happy about that.
Looking forward to sorting it all out. Hubby did buy me a japanese maple and it has pride of place in the front garden now. We have liberally decided that the front is for decoration and the back is for edible plant life. His herbs are coming along nicely in their raised bed which looks pretty good apart from the fact that we keep having to scare all the neighbourhood cats away as they keep coming and trying to poop in the ground round the herbs.
Hope you are all well and enjoying the lovely weather we are now having up here, its blooming scorching up here today!!!

tattycath - duck eggs are lovely!!! my dad used to be a postie when i was a little girl and he used to take me on his runs sometimes and there was an old lady who kept ducks and geese and chickens. She always used to say I needed fattening up because I had skinny legs (wish I still had them lol) and she used to give my dad loads of duck and goose eggs and I used to love going there and eating them.
good luck finding somewhere to get them, I'm looking for a supplier here as well xxLBM - August 2008 - Debts then - £33390 - 2nd LBM - November 2009 - Debts then - £18500:mad:

bonsibabe.....(((((((((hugs))))))))))) i know this is really easy to say but try and not to stress too much, and if that is your option then go for it...and then you can start living, rather than worrying...

i will pm you..
tattycath, ducks eggs are fantastic for cokking with, makes really nice rich sponge cakes:D
why dont you ask on freecycle for info on anyone who sells duck eggs in your area, worth a go...you never know there could be someone really close to you that you didnt know about..Work to live= not live to work0 -
Can I join too please?
My day dreams are many and varied. If I list them I might be able to prioritize. they iclude
1.building a porch on the house as when it rains it rains in under the door and a porch would also be a wind break.
2. Taking the family on holiday to a country cottage for our 25 wedding anniversary in 3 yrs time
3. Buying some bedroon furniture,a wardrobe and some small pieces as am fed up with living out of 1 set of draws and bin bags.
4.a new rug for sitting room.
I have a jam jar with some small change in it, about £4, but, as they say, its a start."The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0 -
Hi all
well done on the addition to your fund Tattycath :T
Well I have been up since 5:15 this morning :mad:courtesy of our neighbours coming home at that time, having several domestics along the way:rolleyes:, much shouting and going on... which has helped bring home to me just why me n hubby want a place with the neighbours further away -even a bigger garden would be a start
I know that we are really considerate of our neighbours -but we are realising that its a one way street -so when hubby left for golf at 8am and I had seen the neighbours on my other side go out (we are the middle of 3) ... I had this really bad urge to play Bon Jovi VERY loudly -with the patio doors open -oohh and I hoovered right through -you would be amazed how long it took to do the room that backed onto their bedrooms-might be infantile -but it made me feel better... I now keep seeing various members of the family wandering out for a cigarette looking like death warmed upwith hangovers from hell :T...I feel tickity boo as I have hoovered, dusted right through, cleaned al the windows inside and out, done 2 loads of washing and got it out to dry and folded, made the bread and roasted a pork joint for later :rotfl:
I wil be glad when Monday comes around as the visitors will be going and she will be back at work and I can potter in my garden in peace once more
Right -thats the rant over
Everything seems to be coming along great -the peas I set in the wooden trough last week are all peeping through :j..heck if I don't get loads of peas this year I will be most narked .... I need to get some more spring onions, salad leaves and raddishes set -but Im waiting until monday so i can do it in peace...
I keep looking at properties on line -and have seen various semis with nice big gardens ... I think that is where we are heading rather than a small holding.. there are various factors that have made me think this is the best bet for us...- well obviously -the cost is the first one -isn't it always
- I want to stay close to my family -my mum in particular....
- Im thinking long term and how we will cope with a small holding in our old age ..Im not in great health right now -due for neurosurgery at the end of the year -which may on not make things a whole lot better
Anyway enough waffle -again.. hope everyone is well and getting some good weather:D-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Cooltrikerchick - thanks for the PM have messaged you back and it did help. I'm smiling today for the first time in months so you can imagine the lack of stress lol.
MrsM - I hope your surgery isnt too bad and it goes well when the time comes. And that you find the right property when the time comes too x
Well 2 loads of washing done, third in machine and about to put second load on the line. Then off to water the front garden plants and feed the back garden. Just checked and its 5 cucumbers and 3 aubergines so feeling rather smug as hubby didnt think any of them would grow!
Just wait till next year - I'll be much better prepared as we are getting my dad;s old shed soon and going to use that as a potting shed. It was meant to be for the girls but they are now getting a playhouse from my best friend. Its in her garden but her grandkids dont bother with it so its getting moved to my garden where it will be repainted and loved to bits by my two, and when not in use can store their bikes!
Hopeing you are all enjoying the weather almost as much as me - sunshine is natures antidepressant after all!!! xxLBM - August 2008 - Debts then - £33390 - 2nd LBM - November 2009 - Debts then - £18500:mad:

Nothing wrong with a semi Mrs Mc. That's exactly what we've had up to now, albeit with a pretty large garden.
I have no idea how we will cope with about 15 -20x the land we used to have, but there's only one way to find out! Personally, I feel I've gone to seed a bit in rented this year. Too Little incentive.
Anyway, for someone who doesn't feel too fit, you sound like you're running rings round me!:rotfl:Let's hope your op, when it comes, makes you feel a whole lot better.0 -
Hi Zarazara  no need to ask, everyone is welcome....
ahhhh a holiday in a beautifull cottage sounds bliss, if i done that at the mo....i wouldnt leave..lol... i would have to claim squatters rights or something:rotfl:
in what order will your list be? and a jam jar for change is brill, its suprising how much it adds up without knowing...
Mrs M I would have put good old Bon Jovi on and boggied around with the hoover going too, so obviously the music would have had to be loud to be heard over the hoover;):D... hope they had good thick heads and feeling like cac...lol..
Its things like that that really spur you on... like next doors kids with me:mad:
Davesnave.... i am sure you will find some use for all that land
Bonsibabe... keep your £1 somewhere close to you, and if you ever feel a bit low, just take that £1 out and just remember thats your new start and your new future:money:Work to live= not live to work0 -
Dunno which order really, I guess the porch is the most needed."The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0
