Hello to tattycath & mambury. As CTC says, the more the merrier.

I'm a north Devon chap originally, Mambury. Used to live down South Molton way as a teenager. In fact my first full time job was looking after chickens in that area; thousands of them! Then, I'm afraid I went off to the bright lights and never returned. Now I can't afford to!:rotfl:

cool, I live near Bradworthy, well about 5 miles away but thats near in devon terms!!

Oh, you'm nearly Cornwall, then, m'dear!

Nice quiet area that. Our favourite beach, Bucks Mills, isn't too far either.

very, very nearly! I prefer the beaches in and around Bude! Duckpool and northcott being my absolute faves!

I'm a blow in though, its taken me a long time (7 years in fact) to get some of the locals to accept me ! LOL! Even then some of them won't talk to me!:D

Wasn't really sure how to go about my daydream fund...so I have opened an ISA so that I can just transfer any residual funds out of my current account-+ other change etc...at least it's a start. Well it will be when they send me the details of the account !!

    Afternoon all :D

Tattycath -oooohhhh thats and organised start :T... I think I might have to look into doing something similar..
I have just requested one of those card reader thingies so I can move cash etc back in my UK account(well once it gets here). Hubby is going to be paying £300 a month into my current account -I was thinking of transfering some/all of it into the savings account (that hasn't been used since the year dot :rotfl:).. but I guess an ISA mght make more sense ...
I will have to do some research ;)

My spends this month are off to a good start... the bits n bobs we need for the rest of this weeks menu come to a grand total of €5 and some oddments :j -the change will go into the savings tin.

My veggies are going greatguns... the 12 toms and 1 cucumber I put out are doing fine (I have them sheltered by fleece) so if they are ok at the weekend I will get the other 29 toms and 5 cumbers out too -then I will have a bit more space in the spare room ;)

Hope everyone is having good gardening weather :D

    Hi all,
I haven't been on here for ages, well a few days!
We've been digging up dandelions and sorting out canes etc for our veggies. It all looks much tidier and encourages to get out there.
I've also put some pepper plant seeds in the conservatory. I'm hoping they'll start coming up soon.

As far as my fund.....I'm still paying off some stuff so it'll be a couple of months till I can start putting money towards it, just trying to get our spending down at the moment!

been off work today, i thought this cold/flu was going but i feel really rough with it now, just couldnt get out of bed this morning, i know there is going to be a huge backlog of sorting, but i think i should have had a day or two off in the begining to try and get rid of this flu, first as last.

spoke to my accountant about my wages/drawings, so this month i can take out £1000:j, plus i managed to sell £55 worth of my own vintage collection, so now my fund has hit over the 2k mark.. only another 218 of them to go...lol..

havent done anything in the garden on the growing front:cool:, but in my defence i have been ill, and soooooooo busy in work, the sun is coming ot now, so i might just go outside for 10 mins to get some fresh air, and mooch around the garden.

the new chicken run is coming on nicely, fair do's to hubby he has been coming home from work and spending some time out there,

Franke M ..sounds as though you have been busy in hte garden with those dandilions...lol..... you going about saving the right way... seeing on how you can save on spending etc.. i find the old style board fantastic for seeing how you can save on grocery shopping etc.

MRSM...i bet you cant wait for all those tomatoes to start fruiting, what will you do with them all when they fruit all at the same time?

Tattycath, an Isa is a great way to save your money, i have one with barclays, but havent put my daydream money in it yet for this financial year, was going to use another one where i would get £85 cash back, but they seem a bit confusing, so i think this weekend i really do need to have a look for a 'proper home' for my savings money..

    Hi cooltrikerchic

Thats great news on the fund total :T
We love tomatoes and have salads twice a day during the summer ;) -last year I roasted all the extras as they occured and froze them -they have lasted all winter -blitzed and made into pasta sauces with marscapone mmmmm.. I throw in any excess, peppers, chilli, aubergine and courgettes too so I had a variety of bases. They were gorgeous...Im growing more this year -so fingers crossed I get as good crops of them this time...
Hope you back up n out in the garden soon ;)
