I used to love the roast at school and the puddings, even the milky ones. The butterscotch tart was nice but passed on the custard, too watery.
I hated mince with its globs of fat in it and fish. I still hate mince and fish now.
Don't even get me started on offal.
I was at school in the 70s - took packed lunch, then went home for lunch in last 2 years (I lived very close to the school)An average day in my life:hello: :mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T:rotfl: :rotfl:

OMG this thread is boss!! I had forgotten some of the dishes mentioned but am now majorly craving cheese pie!! We used to get it with mash and beans and I was one of the only people who liked it. Is the receipe in the Dinner Lady book? - Someone did suggest a receipe early in the thread but it didn't sound the same to me - it really was like sort of greasy cheese egg custard but not like quiche at all. We also used to have (I went to school in the 70's) a thing called Dutch Roll, which was a kind of meatloaf in gravy- it was wonderful!! I also loved chicken rissoles, chocolate chip pudding and custard (it wasn't sponge pudding it was denser - don't know how they made it) and my school's version of spaghetti bolognaise, which was spaghetti with tomatoey meat sauce mixed in with frozen peas in it which had been cooked for ages - we got it with chips. I'm off to Amazon to look for the dinner lady book - mind you I can't see my two fussy eater DD's eating anything like this!!Jane
