we use to have a chocolate pudding called wellington fudge, It was cake top with a fudgey bit underneath. And it was made with the mixture for the fudge bit on the top.
Does that sound anything like it.

Hiya
I've just merged your post into an older thread on school recipes and you'll find that chocolate crunch is one of the first mentioned if you'd like to read this new thread from the beginning.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. I have to say that all I remember with fondness about school dinners are the puddings - I do not remembere liver days with any gratitude at all. I cook it occasionally for dh and ds's but eat it .........
My kids got a new school cook this year and what a transformation - and they had butterscotch tart and custard yesterday - today was either spaghetti with meatballs and tomato sauce or chicken tikka masala with rice and selection of veggies and then Arctic roll and fruit.
Does anyone else remember Arctic roll - I love it and you can get it in Tesco quite cheaply“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

hope this may be of help.
My fav book of the momentOH feels he is really being looked after cos they are all non-nonsense kind of recipes with the old favourites plus a few new ones. My DD (4) recently got persuaded to try pineapple at nursery and so I tried her recipe for sweet and sour chicken - clean plates all round and cheaper than using a ready made sauce which is what I would have done before.
Reserve it from your local library if this kind of food is your thing!

I've recently bought The DInner Lady too! The chocolate chip cookies are fab.
I'm looking for a recipe for cookies that we used to have at school. I've googled and googled and can't find it. What's even more annoying is that I used to have the recipe from a dinner lady, but it got lost
They were large, flat and chewy. Had golden syrup and raisins in them. Golden in colour. Then just flour, sugar, marg, bicarb etc. Sure there wasn't anything more too them that that. Anyone got any ideas? Or remember them?

My mum was school cook at my lower school in the 70's, so we were lucky enough to get all the left overs at home. Homemade crisps, chocolate spnge with mint custard. She died in 1985 and I think my dad has got rid of the old cookery books. Was hoping to re live my child hood and make some things for my daughter.0

Anyone remember that cold, white creamy bubbly sauce they put on biscuits and cold desserts - recipe would be great!!
It might be worth checking with your Dad to see if he has any books still!0
