I spend far too much time browsing/buying things from the local charity shops - mostly old books, cds, vinyl, tapes and dvds.

Got a good haul last week -
got 10 cds for under £20, including a 2cd Bluegrass set and a 3cd Gospel songs box for only 99p each.

Managed to grab a copy of The Baader Meinhof Complex for a fiver which I've been meaning to get for a while, wasn't sure about because most the dvds were only £1-£2.99 each, turns out even the cheapest second hand copy on amazon would cost @£8 (with postage)
and the record of the second Hitchikers Guide To The Galaxy radio series
for £1 (going for £5.99 + on disogs)

    Favourite/best bargains (that I remember):
Missing out on an obscure single via the classifieds in Record Collector magazine
only to find a copy for 20p (It would've cost £15:eek:) - I put some extra money in the tin for that.
A cd randomly bought from the 50p/£1 'bargain bin' because it looked interesting and turned out to be Christian metal - went for about £10 on amazon.

Finding a nearly new t-shirt for my favourite band, that would cost about £15 new for £3, and last month : finding an copy of Roxio Photosuite 5 Platinum Edition (fully boxed with origanal 100+ page instructions book and in almost new looking conndition) for £1.99 : It's currently being on amazon marketplace for £22:eek:

I was bored and sitting at home one Saturday morning, when Mum came in from shopping, complete with a new coat that she'd got from the church jumble.

Get up there quick, if I were you, she says. They are selling EVERYTHING half price, and when I left, there was a moped still there.

On the lookout for a bike of some sort, I shot up there and there was a 98cc 1947 Francis Barnett, marked up as 5/- and reduced to 2/6p.

They were just closing and the little old lady said that if I wanted, I could have it for 1/3p

I jumped at the chance, gave her my money and cycled (Illegally, I later learned) it all the way back home.

Got it working and the only part not working was the lighting coil. I used to take that over all of the fields and footpaths that Summer. Gave me a huge intro into motorbikes and I kept that till someone offered me 27/6p for it.

    That was back in 1965.

Best and most memorable 'find' at a Jumble sale that I have ever had. (and not a bad bit of profiteering, either)

    Thanks Mum.:)
