OMG what a fantastic thread :j

Well I'm known as Queen of Bargains to family and friends :D
I very rarely by anything from "normal" shops anymore as I just LOVE charity shops... My budget stretches so much further and I can buy stuff that I wouldn't normally be able too.

Today for instance, I managed to get my daughter a practically brand new play kitchen for £5 which included loads of extras that wouldn't of originally come with it :j
As well as a Karen Millan dress, Topshop cardigan and River Island bag all for 50p each :j Fortunately I am in my mid 20's and live in an area with the population being mostly older folk so the kind of stuff I tend to buy is usually the stuff left on the sale rail :rotfl:

If I add up a typical days outfit then its usually cost less than £5 :T

OMG I am in love with this thread!!! How sad :o

Me too, it's so much more fun finding things you want without spending a fortune:j. Even better when people tell you they like something you're wearing and you thank them with a secret smile on your face;).
If only they knew...sometimes I tell them where I bought it, depends who it is. My house is full of stuff I bought at boot sales too, isn't it great?!
  • I just love it. Ive just started a new hobby. Cross Stitching and so far have bought loads off the car boots for a fraction of the costs in the shops. Ive had loads of mags, Got 8 books only this weekend and was charged 25p each. Also snapped up a cross stitchers Bible, priced it up in Hobbycraft and they were charging £15.99 I paid 20p and it was in really good nick. The best car booters I find are the ones that have taken time out to price things up. You can tell they are first timers and you know you are gonna bag a bargain. The ones that I really dont bother looking at the are the ones who think they are antique dealers. To me thats not true car booting and I find boring.

Give me a 10p - £1 stall any day and I will have a good rummage.

There's one over at Cockshutt Lane just outside Cannock on a sunday morning. I get there about 8.30am and gotta say the earlier you are the more bargains there are.

Im not happy as the weather forecast for this weekend is rain!!! Boo hoo!!
  • I bought a Beswick bull in a charity shop for 25p,sold it for £200.

No,I didnt have a clue.I just liked it and I thought I had heard the name beswick before so I kinda hoped. If only I could do that sort of thing on a weekly basis I could make an enjoyable career out of shopping.
I looked it up on the internet when I got home with it and was jumping for joy when I saw auction house estimates of £50-100 and £100-200 in various places.
I am online tonight searching for info on backstamps from an english dresden crockery set I bought today.Hopefully it will be worth something decent and help with my wedding fund.

    Congratulations on the Beswick bull!
I would never find something like that as I always walk right past the china at the car boots. Maybe I should look a bit harder today. :)

I'll post what I get when I get back in a few hours.
  • I am just a bit annoyed with myself in hindsight for not buying the broken beswick animals which were sitting alongside too, having looked them up online they would have fetched about £30 each even with broken horns etc.I just didnt give them a second look because of the damage. At 25p it would have been well worth the gamble. If my chance comes again I will grab it.
On the lookout now for an original Da Vinci line drawing to pay off the mortgage;).Fat chance:rolleyes:.

:O Even the broken ones sell for £30?
    Wow.

I got a pretty bad haul today, a few things worth less than I paid for them. I'll just have to take them to the car boot when I sell at one, soon.
Folder full of Pokemon cards: £1 (Even the folders are worth a fiver)
4kg of Lego: £15 (I went a bit crazy on this because I always miss lego at car boots so I went in at quite a high price. Worth about £30 though, so I'm still happy)

    Now for the bad bits:
Nintendo Game Boy: £1.50 (There's 1 pin in the cartridge holder bit that's bent back so unfortunately it won't play games)
8 Sega games for various old consoles: £3 (I decided to take a gamble on these, because I've sold Sega games before and they were worth quite a bit, but these aren't)
France 98 Monopoly: £1 (Complete, but not worth on eBay what I paid.)

I hope other car booters did better than me.
