If you like things hidden away - do you have a little bit of space in the airing cupboard. Put your cloths in a small bucket, or washed out ice-cream tub, if your into saving dosh and saving waste.

As for washing them, yes mine all go in the washing machine, dity ones with the bedding as its hotter, and dusty one's with the clothes. Just don't use fabrice softener as it kills the cloths.

Went to the £1 shop last week and passing the car section I saw some mits with micro fibre cloth one side and chamois (real or fake?) on the other.

Bought 2 and wizzed through doing the windows and dusting upstairs today.

Didnt particularly like the chamois side. I suppose you could make your own micro mits but why bother at a £1 each. And if you are ambidexterous (????) you could put one one each hand and do a wipe on wipe off exercise.:rotfl:

    A new use for them!

We are decorating the living room and I have been doing some patching of the walls in places with a thin mix of pollyfilla. My beloved microfibre cloth is saving me hours of sanding down the dried areas! They also work well on removing old flaky paint and clinging on bits of ratty old wall paper. Doesnt work on normal pollyfilla though - this is the skimming stuff.

I was lunching out with a friend today and I managed to spill a large blob of carrot soup on my black top  Ok, soaked most of it up with my napkin.

Before leaving, and when the stain was dry, I went to the ladies and just dampened a piece of microfibre cloth I carry around with me, and rubbed the stain. It came off beautifully, no trace of it, and I didn't have a large wet patch on me.

I keep this piece of microfibre in my handbag for cleaning things like my makeup mirror, sunglasses etc. I also keep another piece for last minute shoe cleaning.

The pieces are 5 inches square, and are a godsend. :)

  • Hello everyone,

I'm trying to work out a budget for my new home that I move into next week. I'm a complete novice.

I was wondering how long do microfibre cloths last generally?

Do I need to replace them on monthly/3 monthly basis etc?

(I have bought 2 from home and bargain at 39p each as someone said they used 1 wet and 1 dry. (Do I need more?)

    Thanks for all your help

I use mine for as long as they last. I thrown them in the washing machine every time I have a suitable load going in, and they tend to last for ages.

I only thrown them out when they start to look manky
