I made it with lemon juice mixed with a combination of granulated and icing sugar for the top and that was really yum!It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

I might try the one in post 2 next time to compare.
I can vouch for this recipe - its absolutely delicious and so easy to make. The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -
I mostly make Nigella's lemon syrup soaked cake (well, she'd have to call it something different, wouldn't she...but it's basically a lemon drizzle to the rest of us!!) and it always seems to turn out fine.....it makes a 2lb loaf tin size of cake and the recipe's in her Domestic Goddess recipe book.2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever

There are some lovely ideas on this thread so I'll add it to the main drizzle cake thread to keep the suggestions together.

Another vote here for Tana Ramsey recipe as posted by viktory.......my mum has used this recipe for years. I think it's the four eggs which makes it so yummy............
It really is the best lemon drizzle cake recipe I've come across:T0 -
I've just made this (the Tana Ramsay one), but I'm not sure how successful it's been. My hateful, ancient oven is really temperamental and tends to run very hot, so instead of 190º I put it in at 175º near the bottom of the oven for only 40 mins and it still managed to burn the outside a bit while leaving the inside not quite cooked. I kept it in till it was done and trimmed the few burnt-looking bits off before pouring on the topping, and I think it'll still taste yummy, but it's just not the prettiest cake in the world.
I so can't wait to buy our own house next year so we can leave this place with its terrible oven behind!
Edit to add: I just cut a bit off the end to try it and it tastes absolutely gorgeous. Really moist and very lemony. And although it looks a bit dark it doesn't taste burnt at all.
Unfortunately or fortunately depending on how you look at it, my DH thinks it's a bit too lemony and sharp for him, which is a shame as he won't eat it but is good because there's more for me!0 -
Well I made the cake last night and it is yummy!
Only problem I had was that it says cook fro 45-50 minutes but the middle wasn't cooked by then so I had to cover the top with foil (to avoid over-browning) and cook for a further 20mins.
My oven is only 2 years old so I know it's not a temperature problem.
Has anyone else had this problem please?
Thanks.Ageing is a privilege not everyone gets.

This is the one that I use - from the beginning of this thread and it never ever lets me down. I make it in a 2lb loaf tin and it could be 'sandwiched' using Lemon Curd if liked .

I have made the Hairy bikers lemon drizzle cake quite a few times. Delicious, but I find it needs more cooking time (but forgot to cover the top and burnt it he he) Ah well.
Anyway, I wondered if anyone had made a variation in another fruit (apart from lemon and orange)? Like has anyone tried lime drizzle cake using zest? Or strawberry drizzle using maybe pureed strawbs or something? I don't know, am just thinking out loud and wondered if any of you OSers had ever experimented ?:D
Thanks

I've made lime drizzle cake. In fact I've made lime and coconut drizzle cake from the Be-Ro cookbook and it's a super recipe, moist and gorgeous and went down a treat at work. Here's the recipe.
Never tried strawberry but if I was going to give it a go, I'd sieve the strawberries after pureeing them to get rid of as much fleshy bit as possible, just leaving the juice so it would sink in rather than sit on top.0
