  • I'd really like to have seperate counties forums in the local money saving forum so I can see the things which are actually local rather than the whole of England.

I agree about the fact that some of the boards have been merged into one board like the praise, vent and warnings board which used to be split into 3 and has now been merged into 1 - what was the point in that considering that all 3 where getting used a lot

I also must echo several others, I used to be regular on DFW but don't go in now because it is clogged up with diaries.

I am more interested in locating and helping newbie posters and other issues than the social aspect of diaries.
    I have a cunning plan!
Proud to be dealing with my debts.

Why is the Argos board being merged into Grabbit? I am happy to see the back of the Argos board, but don't think that Grabbit is the place to merge it into. It would make more sense (to me anyway) to merge into "Shop but don't drop" because not all Argos related things are grabbits.

The majority of the threads from the Argos board will be pages back on the Grabbit board once they are merged and any newer ones will quickly drop if they aren't a Grabbit then any new Argos posts will either be put in the Grabbit or Shop Don't Drop board as appropriate. No point in looking for problems that aren't there as yet.
  • Another thread which supports my plea for separate boards for Scottish/English & Welsh/Northern Irish property buying and selling:
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1560133

OP starts off asking about whether he can get out of buying a newbuild property and says he has paid £750 deposit - English posters come in and assume that maybe he hasn't exchanged contracts and at least ask him that and a few posts later OP mentions "missives" and only then do some of us realise the property is in Scotland. The earlier posts wouldn't have confused OP and also if he had been invited to choose a Scottish board he would have gone to that to start with. Very few people actually say which legal jurisdiction the property is in when they start a thread, so unfortunately we tend to assume it is in England.

As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.

I realise this isn't the ideal solution, but maybe one short-term answer would be to encourage people to post their jurisdiction as part of the title?

eg on Small biz & Charity Organisers we encourage posters to prefix the post title with SB or CH if their query / information is specific to one or the other. Of course not everyone does, and for many queries it doesn't matter whether it's a SB or CH situation you're asking about.

  • Hi everyone

We've gone through thread and we're going to make all the proposed changes except for the Pensions board, which we're going to leave where it is.

    Here's the list:

[*]Bankruptcy and Living With it Make this a main board with IVAs as a sub-board

[*]New Board: Freebies Low Spend Create new board to go below Freebies: No Spend with the description “Just pay p&p, make a call, send a text or sae”

[*]Argos sub-board Remove and merge into grabbit

[*]Anything Else To be deleted (old posts would be merged into the I Wanna board)

[*]Consumables Merge into Shop But Don’t Drop

[*]DFW Create a Diaries sub-board Already Done - as a Trial board

[*]Pensions Move to the Work, Home & Play Staying where it is.

    Andrea :)

I don't like the "new" DFW bring back the diaries

Must admit, NM, that other than those 'diaries' to which I am already subscribed, I tend to go straight to the main DFW board. I hope I'm not missing anything important.

On the 'plus' side, though, it has made the main DFW board less 'cluttered' and easier to find the 'newby' threads.

I'm pleased that the 'Bankruptcy' sub board becomes a board in its own right.

I suppose we'll get used to it.

If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
