Done.
Without issue. Have not got an email yet at all.
I rekon this will be closed by the end of the day!!
It wouldn't surprise me if they were singling people out based on their name for ID purposes, it would be interesting to see what the names are of the people getting checked.0 -
Just opened one for me, one for my husband and one for my brother. Fab fab deal!!:A0

So is it a random thing that some people seem to get asked to provide the extra ID?
I've done an application for both me and the Mrs. Only trouble is the bank account cheque will be from the same joint current account.
Wonder if they'll mind this?
But hey, its only a quid and you can have it back if it doesnt work !!!!
Reckon IMG will probably close this down soon enough. What about those of us who've already applied? Are they likely to close it down to new applications or do you reckon they'll put a block on everyone done today?
Anyway, cheers Martin. Nice one!0 -
FYI
I opened this account using the wrong linked account with no chequebook.
Phoned ING up and they will phone back within 2 days on changing the linked account to one with a chequebook. ( I already have one another account with chq book )0 -
Hi I have just applied for this account. On the site was asked to send a cheque to them and to write customer no. and account number on reverse. I was not asked for any security/proof of ID. Nor have I received an email from them (yet). only did it 15 mins ago though.
Great find Martin!0 -

Can I goto my bank and have them write me a cheque?
I'm not sure , but I don't think that will work. I think the purpose of the cheque is to satisfy their money laundering checking obligations, which is why most people have just been asked to send a cheque with no other proof of ID.0 -
Ive opened 2 accounts one for myself and one for other half. Printed off confirmation of account details, but not received any emails yet.0

No, they are required to verify the identity of everyone. When you open the account, they will try to verify your identity electronically. This checks the details that you have given with a credit reference agency.
If the electronic verification fails (typically if you don't have many credit products, aren't on the electoral role, and/or have moved house recently, but can fail for other reasons), then you will be asked to send in paper copies.
This sort of procedure is becoming fairly standard at many banks now.0 -
Thanks Martin - just received your newsletter and went straight to ING. The £20 offer appears to still be open, so I've applied and will sendthem a cheque for £1 tonight.
Looking forward to hearing whether anyone (everyone) received their £20. Easy money0 -
Right. Signed-up. No extra details required. They must think you lot are dodgy..:rotfl:
The details you need for the cheque are on one of the sheets you printed off.
You did print them?
Sending my cheque tonight.
Nice one Martin!0
