I can vouch for Morgan Stanley's cashback card. I signed up with MSDW in 1998 and use my card exclusively for retail purchases.
You can manage your account online. MSDW also accepts payments by phone so if your PC crashes, you can still settle the bill in the comfort of your own home, using the automated telephone system. There's a Freefone number for this and for those occasions when you need to speak to a human being. Cashback's not as good as the current Egg Money rate, but well worth considering, if telephone back-up is important to you.
The Morgan Stanley card pays 1% on all spending up to the first £2,000 a year and 0.5% after that. You'll be surprised how it all mounts up. (Makes you wonder what the card companies are making!)
Btw, the introductory double cashback means that this card outperforms Amex Platinum for those spending less than £3,500 in the first year.
Perhaps, someone will be along soon to tell us about their experiences with the Conran card and other cashback cards.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -

I use Morgan Stanley as my back up card, but it doesnt really reward you to use it more when the cashback %age goes down when you spend more on it!0 -
True. The card used to pay the higher rate once you exceeded £2000 pa. About 3 years ago, MSDW inverted the tiers so that now the opposite happens.
It's still nice when the anniversary cheque turns up in the post though!People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
Hi there:
I've been following this post closely, especially since AMEX announced that they are changing their cashback. A lot of people have mentioned Egg money as an alternative. I was one of those who took out an Egg card a few years back when it was paying 1% and I saw that eventually go down to 0.1%, so I don't really trust that Egg will keep the cashback after January!! Another thing that I noticed was that Egg money gives you only 50 days to pay vs 56 days for Amex Platinum -- that means that you keep your own cash invested for an extra 6 days each billing period, or 72 extra days a year. Depending on your spend level that can add up. Finally Egg charges £16 in late fees vs. AMEX only charging £8 (the lowest, I think, avaialable). Taken together, I'm really reluctant to switch to Egg money!0 -

The best thing about EGG Money and Egg Card is to keep an eye on the online special cashback deals. For example they recently had a 10% instant cashback on Dixons (currently 5%) which is worth having!0 -
I am trying to apply for an egg money card and everytime I input my name/address details it asks me for them again and mothers maiden name and password. I can't get passed this point and the website goes off. Am I doing something wrong. Please can someone direct me to the applications website as I think I maybe applying in the wrong one.
I want to get rid of my amex now as it won't earn me much when the changes happen and I'm sick of shops not taking the cardbecame debt free December 060 -

Sounds like you are trying to log into Egg account assuming you already have an account.
Are you using this link to apply:
https://new.egg.com/ssl/com.egg/appform3/EggMoney
Make sure you answer "No" to the question have you used Egg Money before? (unless you have of course!)0 -
I have tried the link that you gave me but it's just the same. I will ring them up as I am now getting fed up. Thanks for the help though.became debt free December 060

I experienced this with the Egg Green card as well. All the same, Egg Money has other features that, together with the cashback, make this card attractive.

I'll go with that.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -

I'd rather buy from somewhere 5% cheaper than Dixons, and get the cashback on the card. Who wants to keep track of EGG special offers coming and going?0
