Also, does anyone know how easy it is to "upgrade" from Blue to Platinum?
You used to have to upgrade if you wanted Platinum from Blue. This isn't the case anymore. You now have to do a sepearate Application. Depending on your credit score, they may only give you a small credit limit of say £700 on platinum, but they will let you move your credit limit around between the 2 cards.0 -
cotsvale wrote:Sorry if this is a daft question but I spend about £500 per month in Tescos and use my clubcard to pay thus getting the points for the deals. I spend at least another £500 elsewhere using the same Tesco visa card earning less points. Am I better off doing this or would I be better off having and paying for everything with a cashback card? Sorry not clever enough to work it out myself.
Can't give you chapter and verse on this but, if you exchange the Clubcard
vouchers you get for "Deals", they become worth 4 times their face value (you'll already know that, of course!).
As you are already getting double points for your Tesco shopping and points for other purchases on the card, I think you are on a very good deal myself!
I don't think other cashback deals can match it in these circumstances.
If you didn't do the Tesco "Deals" it could be a slightly different story. I don't have a Tesco CC but I do have the ClubcardPlus card and my accumulated points will pay something off my next trips on Eurotunnel!

You may find my post, here, useful. Basically, the Blue card is under review and you can't get it by applying online - you have to phone them to get it. To me this indicates that they may be axing it. Sounds stupid, given that they do this card in every EU country, and it is especially popular in the US (paying 5% cashback I think!!). I wonder what they'll bring here to replace it?0 -

You can't get cash in supermarket cashback on Egg Money as it is a credit card not a debit card.0 -
I'm thinking that GE launched their money back card slightly too early. I seem to be getting 3% money back on all purchases - not just the food and petrol that they promise.
If you call and ask for a list of stores where you get 3%, they will tell you that such a list does not exist. That's going to make it tricky for them to work out when to give card holders 3% money back and when to give 1% money back.
I seem to be always getting 3% money back....
No complaints here - I'm switching from the Blue Amex.
Only problem with the GE card is that it doesn't always work. For example Asda petrol stations.0 -
I have had mine for 2 months now and limited my spending to Petrol & Supermarkets. I am getting 3% cash-back but the calculation appears to be rounded down to the nearest 10p. Is that the same for all users?
If 3% cashback is on total spend where-ever then no problem but if not we should compile our own listing and as starters these shops all take them for food and petrol

This may have been discussed before however it's a little difficult to search this particular theme and this thread is getting quite long.
So, for those with vast quantities of available money, I have found that if you put a card into credit, request a refund it is classed as a purchase as it debits the card and as such you qualify for the appropriate points/cashback/reward.
I do not know which cards it works on and which it doesn't (has worked on GE cards including store cards), however it is (or used to be) a way to maximise your rewards from card issuers.
Good luck and don't forget to post your successes (and try not to flame me).0 -
