so then I will use the GE card for fuel and food and my citibank 1% flat rate for everything else (I dont think Citibank are doing the 1% deal for new customers anymore though - only maintain it for existing customers)

3% off fuel is near enough a saving of 3p per litre
Any idea how they identify food and fuel - is it by retailler?
    I think....

Just tried to apply for one of these and they refused me. I have NEVER been refused a credit card as I always pay up in FULL every month.

I earn well above the average salary and have an excellent credit record.

Anybody been able to get one or is this just a marketing ploy?

I believe it's by retailer so if you buy non-food e.g. DVD player, at Sainsburys you will get cashback, whereas if you buy groceries at an unrecognised retailer e.g. farm shop then you won't get cashback.

can anyone tell me why the abbey cashback card is notmentioned in the list of creditcards which pay cash. I get 0.5% on first £500 spent and 1% on rest up to a total of £20,000 per year not as good as amex but not bad why no mention>

Sorry to hear about that, I applied and got accepted this morning. I'm not sure how sustainable the 3% cashback will be....

What's a point in mentioning the card that is not available any more for new customers?

Is there any possibility that the Inland Revenue will start to tax the casback as if it was Interest?

The Bank of Ireland has a Cashback card and their service on the phone is excellent. My wife's card was "used" in the USA long after we returned and it was sorted with one phone call.
  • What About Goldfish? I Consider That I Do Quite Well Taking Store Vouchers. Maybe It Is Because I Pay My Account Off Every Month So As Not To Accrue Interest
