Silvercharming happy birthday, may all your dreams come true

I haven't really done a lot of terribly OS things over the past 2 weeks but I did still manage to come in under budget for the GC for Feb. Old mum has decided to stop smoking to DH and I will be running for cover I guess. She will be a very scary old lady :rotfl:

Dinner tonight will be the remains of the Tongue I cooked on Sunday, there is still enough for 2 of us and I will have that will parsnip and celeriac bake I think. Mum will have HM soup and pudding as she doesn't like tongue

May you all have a lovely day, and may you all feel better and brighter soon if you are unwell or down

Kal25 - Jealous of youghurt maker, was it a bargain ?

Not really, brought it from julian graves, they didn't have any of the 'gift packs' left:confused: . But was happy to buy it anyway. Was going to buy the extra jars...but they had some smallish jars for 79p so brought them for DS1 & DS2 to take some to school. I had been umming & aaahhing whether to buy oe & decided to take the plunge & get it. As I said earlier it seems to be a success as DD has now had another half bowl, am pleased as she this is a good way of her getting calcium as she has stopped drinking milk:confused: .
However, I will be looking at making my own as the sachets are ok but I am not sure they will last long enough to make it cheap...LOL

Silvercharming- sounds like you have a fun day ahead and it is nice to be made to feel special on your bday. I can totally sympathise with you on your family. I am one who remembers everyones but then very few rememeber mine.Anyhow hope yor friends little girls party goes ok and have fun:D .

I don't knowif you are aware but for Hula Hoops lovers, they are always in Poundland at about 10 or 12 for £1. As they can cost between 40-70p in the shops singly, thats quite a good bargain. They come in all plain or some mixed. I tend to get them as flatmate likes to have them on his butties at the football.

    Thank you! :D

dd2 spotted them in Poundland, and as she was going away I gave in a bought some! Not noticed them in there before, but then I'm not a crisp fan, though I do like hula hoops ;) If I buy crisps they are usually the value ones, as they are just oil, salt and potato - dd3 and ds are rubbish with additives and stuff, so it's easier to avoid them. Anyway the hula hoops caused great excitement when they appeared in the lunch boxes lol!

I really need to spend more time in poundland.

Mudgekin - I blushed! It is good to share little bear's antics.

I definitely have a bad cold, feel dreadful, darling father's stay cancelled. Little bear is about to be packed off to a warm safe room full of toys, which he will complain about.

Silvercharming - it is amazing how things can take you back!

MSD - hope you are okay.

Yes it has just come, I got 3 parcels......yours, an Amish faceless doll I have been looking for and something from shop and scan, don't know what it is haven't opened it yet.

No one from the council yet despite them saying they were coming this morning......we have an appointment at 2pm, so if they come whilst we are out, tough.......I also have to have a quick trip to the post office to post a package.

I hope you got the book ok and enjoy reading it.

    How is DDs boyfriend?

Going to par boil some potatoes and do them roasted in the Moski with a la leftovers for tea before going to parents evening.

Washing was on the line but it has started to rain so it is now on radiators inside.

Might put chicken carcass in slow cooker later ready to make chicken and veg soup for tomorrow.

Only have two of the home made hobnobs left for DDs lunches so might offer to bake some savoury muffins instead if I can get myself motivated.

Going to load slow cooker now before I forget.

    Elona - savoury muffins?

Looking for inspiration for dear heart to take to work for lunch as well as soup.

:o Just bought random wool - no idea why. Think cold is affecting me. But (Hester take note for scarves) 8.80 for 1000g of chunky, even adding postage it is extremely inexpensive. I just have no idea what I am going to do with it when I get it.

.....Anyone had success with tile paint? The tiles are in great condition but the pattern has flecks of grey. Ideally I'd paint over them in white but want to see if anyone has done this on here......

Yes, I've used it - it gives a good finish as long as you have a good brush, and will be great for a spruce-up to sell your house :)

The savoury muffins are from the Tightwad Gazette and have been posted here before, I think on the recipe thread.

You can make them savoury or sweet and vary ingredients on whatever you have to hand.

2 to 2 and a half cups white flour(plain or if SR then leave out the baking powder)

    1 cup milk

    1 quarter cup veg oil

    1 egg

2 tbs sugar if savoury (a half cup if sweet)

    2 teasp baking powder

    a half teasp salt

    a half cup grated cheese

    2 tabsp grated onion

    Bake for 20 mins at 180 C.

You can add bacon pieces (already cooked) if you want,as well.

I also do a sweet version with cooked apple and cinnamon that goes down well.
