I have had some professional laser sessions and all of the hair has returned. I am persevering with this too. Looking across forums on the internet it seems as though some people do get permanent results from IPL/Laser. I'm thinking that it depends on the person.

Boots state on their website that " Permanent hair reduction will be seen after a typical 6 to 12 weekly treatments." They use the word permanent. This to me means for ever. Are they then not being truthful? Obviously it was the permanance claim that made me buy this product but from my results, it isn't quite living up to this.... I will keep on going though but would be interested to hear others experiences

    Note the word REDUCTION

We all get hung up on the words permanent and removal - we don't always catch on that they are really only saying a reduction. And usually that means that there will be longer times between hair removal with the system. Go back to waxing or whatever and it will be the same time span

People who have forked out for lazer hair removal are seeing it grow back after a few years,

The girls reporting back on this are saying that as soon as they stop weekly treatments - the hair grows back

There is nothing availible as yet that will stop hair growing for good. We are destined to be sat with wax, creams, tweezers, needles, blades - whatever - for the forseeable future

Or we could be like the rest of europe and become at ease with out hair :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I sincerely wish this was the case! It would have saved me a lot of time, stress, and money!!!
  • Lets hope I am one of the 90%! I am persevering and regrowth has been with finer hairs. Has anyone sen no regrowth after a prolonged period of time, or after treating regrowth, have they seen a further reduction. Hope keeps us zapping on!:o

It means at least 90% of hairs on any one person, not 90% of users

And it only covers for the time you are using the product. So lets say you do get total hair removal and think whoopie and pass the machine on - your hair will eventually grow back, as already being reported on this thread

For that 90% reduction you will be forever using this machine for the forseable future

Even electrolysis has no real gaurentee of permanent hair removal. Girls I grew up with having their top lip and chins done in their 20s are back to waxing, plucking, shaving - same as us all now they are in their 40s/50s

I think it is so unfair that so many of these gadgets and gizmos are sold under the guise of "permanent hair removal" or "permanent hair reduction". They make out like you have to use them for 12 weeks and that's it. I haven't bought the boots smooth skin device yet and now I'm not sure I will.

I wouldn't mind if I had to continue using it maybe once a month or so, but it's the fact that it would end up costing a fortune to keep replacing the flashy part of the device. It's really depressing to see so many people saying the hair has grown back as soon as they stopped using it. :(

When will there be a real solution to this problem?!

Those that had electrolysis, laser or whatever and are now "back to waxing plucking and shaving" now they are in their 40s/50s - wouldn't this extra hair be as a result of aging? We all know about hormone changes at this time of life and these are probably responsible for this growth.

But then if electrolysis was the great answer and killed off hair follicles it would never grow back again

Im one of those who had electrolysis who is now sat with tweezers every morning and Im working on the hairs that I had treated back then, Now yes I have hormone changes but the hairs Im having to pluck at the exact same places I had treated in my 20's and 30's - top lip, either side of chin and a few on the neck

So dont even think electrolyses is the final solution - its not.

Im really pleased that you are seeing results I really am. But the question was " is it permanent" and the answer is NO. Once you stop using it your hair will grow back the same it was

As I said a few weeks ago I am now back to this. Prior to the wedding I had completed 19 treatments over 16 weeks. I had seen a huge reduction on my under chin area but nothing on my main chin area. I plucked these the day before my wedding and these only came back once I returned from honey moon about 1 month after the wedding. I had to shave these last week so I am back to my routine before plucking of shaving every other day but I suspect I may need to do daily before soon. I completed twice weekly treatments before the wedding over a period of 5 weeks. I noticed no difference to the standard weekly treatment. So I am going back to the weekly treatment. Once I have done a few weeks or so I will repluck and then see how long it lasts. If I can last a month like before then I am one very happy lady! Although I will top every fortnight and see how we go.

My under arm area before the wedding I had only completed 11 treatments (now completed 12 as of this week) and only really noticed about a 40-50% reduction - not all the hair mainly top and bottom with the middle staying the same. I am going to return to this as a weekly treatment for a bit and then do that fortnightly also. Not like any one is going to see this time of year is it ;-)
Around my nipples responded the best. All but 1 or 2 hairs went. These have grown back a little bit but only by about 25%. I had completed 9 weeks pre wedding and now am on 10. Once I hit the 12 I think I will again drop this to fortnightly for a bit as this area responded the best and then prehaps down to monthly.

Has anyone tried this on the line from their belly button to pubic area? Did you notice any difference on this area? I might do that next or alternatively start on my legs or bikini area ... oh I can't decide! Too much to work on!! ...
  • I bought one three weeks ago and have used t 3 times on my lower legs. and wow its been four days so far and im hair free still:jusually im shaving every 1 to 2 days of thick black leg hair:eek:. I gor mine foe the introductory price of £249:rotfl:in the oast I have tried the E-Pen and the Rio laser hair removal system(the worst product ever) no results and just burnt ma skin..:angry::angry::angry::angry::angry::angry:
I too have PCOS and have used it on ma face as well and it does work:T.
So to end my review all I can say is that with only 3 more sessions to go and with plenty of Zaps left in the machine coz it comes with pre-programmed 10,000 before you need a new handset (£159 from Boots.com) i can only say that this product really has worked for me and has been money well spent.
Im soooo lokkong forward to goining swimming everyday now without havein to shave ma legs and underarms anymore:D:D.
So go one girls treat yourself.
  • Hi everyone :)

Interesting thread! I've been looking at getting one of these for ages......... :ohttp://www.handbag.com/social/forums-beauty-hair-treatments-reviews_beauty-products-treatments_new-laser-product-boots-boots-smooth-skin_.0

I've finally caved in, given that it's on offer at boots (again), and also there's the bonus xmas points - 1200 points per £50 spent. So 6000 points :D:D:D That goes a fair old way to a new bulb when I need it ;)

Can't wait for it to arrive now :D PLEASE keep the reviews and comments coming - really good to hear peoples stories on this......
